Spinny head, and feels like my surroundings are moving. Anyone else have this happen?

I had my first vertigo attack 3 months ago. All test results were normal. I was told it was BPV. They sent me for vestibular therapy, which made me violently ill.  The therapist thinks I have it in both ears .My vertigo/dizziness is subsiding, but now i feel like I have "surges" that run through my body.  They only last a couple seconds, but make me "spinny" when they happen, and it feels like my surroundings are moving.  My heart also starts beating hard when this happens.  They are happening more frequently.  Has anyone ever experiened this.

Yes my symptoms are very similar and they only got worse, but never as bad as the vertigo episode.  Now its just like a dizziness feeling, heartpounding, confusion, headaches, visual problems, neck soreness, fatigue.  It hasn't gone away.  It got worse and then got slightly better, but it's always there.  2 years now and very little success.  Ive read thread after thread and no one has an answer.  Obviously everyones situation is different but there are a number of things that might be going on.  I wish you the very best.

Wow.  You just described some of myv other symptoms that I didn't mention. Hopefully one day there will be a doctor who can figure this out. Good luck to you. Hopefully things will get better.

Here are some theories, don't judge please because I've done a lot of research on these topics.

    1. Stress with hints of anxiety and depression

    2. Some sort of viral attack, as my ears were initially similar to yours

    3. Sinus issues, definitely not bacterial, antibiotics woulda taken care of it by now.  Viral maybe, but I suspect fungal.  I can barely smell now.

    4. Lyme?  I had all sorts of bloodwork and only thing that came back positive was Lyme.  Go figure.  I was treated for it and made some gains but still have the head symptoms.

    5. Visual disorder.  Read case studies of people with same symptoms and never thought it was related to vision.  Eye muscles become strained and inflamed.  Symptoms mimic sinus infection.

    6. Neck issues

Your journey to your health and sanity now begins.  My best medicine even when headaches get bad and dizziness is there has been jogging.

Funny you mention it-I do have neck and sinus issues. This all started about 2 weeks after a root canal,so I wonder if the infected root in my tooth started this all.  Jogging-wow. You must be tough.   Some days I have a hard enough time walking1

Hi, you poor thing.....I only have it in one ear and have had it for 23 years....I'm really sorry if this scares you but it does vary in its severity but that takes years. It took about 4 months for it to get a real hold on me and that was torture.

Unfortunately ly I have had two recent attacks fairly close together which were just awful, not only was I dizzy but the room was spinning really fast and if I tried to stand I was really sick. These attacks lasted 24 hours plus another 24 hours to come around and be able to stand.

I'm so sorry to tell you this but this has never happened when I got all three symptoms all together.....you are probably going to have this problem for a long time and you have to learn to live with. You do get your life back to a degree but not as it was.

so sorry to all who read this, it may not stay with you but you could be like me....

All the doctors keep saying it will be over in a few weeks, that it will just go away one day.  They act like it is no big deal.  I wish I could find a doctor who has experienced vertigo, and actually understood how it feels.  I Hopefully you can go without any attacks in the future.Wishing you a new year filled with good health.

That's exactly what my GP said, it will go......it will go......I think there are so many variations and severity of it they don't really know how to deal with us!

You are right. I think if there are no pills to help it,the doctors just don't know how to deal with us (except for a referral to another doctor).  Reading all the posts here with people who have been dealing with this for years really makes me worry tha it will be a lifelong problem.

I don't know if it's the same but after having BPPV attacks I would get moments of vertigo. For instance, if something on the edge of my vision moved I'd feel like the vertigo was starting all over again. Or if I was sitting on a chair and it moved a little I'd panic or feel like it was vertigo. I found that if I could identify what had "triggered" the vertigo then it would instantly stop. It was like my brain was on high alert and was always on the watch for vertigo. Also, sometimes I get a "spinny surge" where it feels like the vertigo is starting but nothing moves. I'm not sure if it's what you are describing but for me it's kinda like my brain feels like things are about to move but my eyes don't see anything move. It's only for a second or two and it stops as suddenly as it starts. It happens randomly, at least once a day, but almost every night before I go to sleep. Somehow, I think having my eyes closed makes it more likely to happen. Like your brain is panicking cuz it can't see that things are still.

Tl;dr - My guess is that your brain is overreacting to little things and your heart rate goes up because your body is panicking. Happens to me too. I don't know if it's normal, but at least you're not alone smile

That is exactly the right way to desribe it-my brain being on high alert anytime my body feels the slightest motion. There is always the fear  that vertigo or dizziness will follow.  It does seem to happen most frequently when I watch TV. I will have to pay more attention to see if I can find a pattern.   I hope I can learn to relax when these things happen. I'm sure my anxiety isn't helping anything.
