Hi, yes that is what I felt like, it was better than panicking and deep depression, now up to 30ml felt really drunk first day on 30 so cut back to 15on the advice go my phyciatrist then up again every other day. Still feel dizy but my head is a lot better, still dreaming a lot too. They affect people in different ways, it is something I am willing to put up with as it is better than the 7months of hell I have been in. Good luck try not to be scared of them

I was originally prescribed to take 30 mg a day at evenings of Mirt. J had to reduce it generally to 15 becaue of its dedative effect. My consultant said that the full doage was 30 mg and that is what I should be taking. I stuck at taking 15 mig. I am still sleeping 9 hrs and if I have to make an early morning start I don''t take it. I presume that I am not the only one of his patients who is taking Mirt. I think that one has to take the view that we are the experts about our own treatment. At one time I was considering working. It is just as well that I am not because I could not operate effectively in the mornings. With voluntary work and singing in a choir I can just about wing it.

I am taking Mirt rather than Prozac. I stopped taking that becuase it effected my libido. That was a price I was not prepared to take.

I am taking 30 but as you say can't work taking that dose, I want to go back voluntary but don't feel I can commit to every week as I don't know how I will feel each day. Hoping it will level out soon.

Well I also do voluntary work. You must talk about this with your gP or consultant. The beauty of voluntary work is that it is not the same commitment as doing paid work - depending you can ring or not turn up if you don't feel like it. As I say if I have an early start I don't take it. As someone else has said if it makes your mood better then you might wish to put up with it. I am not a psychiatrist so I can't suggest what are your options.

II was prescribed 15 mg. mirtazapine several months ago.   It made me sleepy and with very vivid dreams - not nightmares - but tiring dreams.  I never wake up feeling refreshed. The doctor told me to cut it in half so I've been taking 7.5 mg. and still feel sleepy.  I want to stop it entirely so shall taper off - one night taking it one night not.  I have mild depression - mostly sadness.  I visited a psychiatrist one time  and he said I didn't need anything, but my primary doctor prescribed the

mirtazapine.  I'm hoping that I can totally stop it without doing into a real depression. I can sleep 9 hours and still want more sleep.  This is no way to live.  But many people have benefitted from this medication - a friend of mine said taking it saved her life.  Sometimes it takes awhile for your body to adjust to it.  I wish you luck.

I'm exactly the same only on second day but this morning was a little better than yesterday with the grogginess ect this evening I've been crying and feel low so hope this goes x

The grogginess should pass in a few more days. I had the same feeling for about 5 days. I would be in bed in a kind of dreamy haze - like the feeling you get when on Seroxat and temazepam. You could lie there and get nothing done all day and never worry about a thing! On the 6th day I felt hardly any side effects - apart from feeling a bit woozy in the morning which went away soon after I drunk a cup of tea. Its been 14 days now and I feel 99% better. My life is also starting to turn a corner too.
