Hey everyone, I have a bit of a problem... I've been prescribed 10mg of Citalopram about two weeks ago after having a bad reaction to Zoloft aka Sertraline, (Headaches, Nausea, spacey feelings, hallucinations, double vision, fever etc.) It was horrible. I havent even touched it yet, the bottle is still in its bag unopened. I'm completely terrified. Should I cut the pill in half and start with 5mg? How long should I do that for? like how does that work since the pill is so tiny? I'm really nervous. Just asking for a friendly advice here

Hi Amanda,
Don't be terrified. I think it is a well considered idea to be thinking about starting on a smaller dose. If I was starting on citalopram again I would be doing just that. Citalopram is a powerful drug. I have read some of the responses below and John mentioned about not using citalopram, which he does have a valid point to make, in that the side effects can be bad, but on the other hand, they can help in the long term, all depends on the individual. I mean, nobody would want to take any drugs if they could help it. Perhaps there are other alternatives to citalopram? It worked for me, and yes it can be tough.
