hi,
how long do you usually stay in hospital after a posterior prolapse operation? My gynocologist said 1 night but I've read that it can be 2-5 nights. I'm having the procedure at the Nuffield (gp sent me there so not paying) and I'm just trying to sort things out
thanks in advance

I went to a local private hospital on the NHS. Had the surgery for anterior and posterior repair at about 5pm and the next morning the drip was removed and at lunchtime had the wadding removed and the catheter taken out after lunch. As i was able to pass urine OK I was allowed home about 7pm that evening. Had there been a problem I would have had to stay in for another night.Good Luck - hope all goes well. I'm now 9 weeks post op and beginning to feel human again!

I had NHS op and I paid for private recovery ward.....booked in for two night but doc not happy to release me until I had a bm. So they gave me a third night for free😊. Two nights minimum I'd say then depends on your age, amount of surgery & stitches, what help your going home to etc. good luck
