Still feeling pain in my leg after break 3 months ago. When should I expect it to go away?

I broke my ankle (tibia and fibula) exactly 3 months ago today. Had 5 screws inserted into the tibia. I am in the last stages of my physiotherapy and I have an appointment to get cleared for full contact football in 9 days but I still have pain in my shin when I run. I play qb and I don’t have to run and I won’t get hit for 4 weeks after my clearance because the qb doesn’t get hit in practice and it’s pre season so there’s no games anytime soon. I am in the last stages of my bone healing and there is just a really small crack left to heal but I still get the feeling of bad shin splints when I run. I can do short quick sprints and sometimes long jogs but I’m not sure how I’ll be running by the time practice comes around. Anyone have any advice they can give me on when I should expect the pain to go away?
