Still fighting this thing

I am looking for a good gentle diet.  Not sure what I can eat.  I eat chicken noodle soup and yogurt and bananas.  I know I need to eat more.  I am taking Lactaid to overcome lactose intolerance, which I may or may not have.  Does anybody have any ideas?

    What are your symptoms?

You need to eat a 'normal' diet and keep a food diary to see what triggers you. Foods that are well known triggers for IBS include fatty food, Spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol, nuts/seeds, pulses, bran, dairy, vegetables from the cabbage family, onions and garlic. These may or may not trigger you but are a good place to start.

I've been having constipation and diarrhea and also a lot of head congestion.

as I said, keep a food diary, it really helps. start with a plain diet and add things one at a time to see how you react

You need to get your GP to refer you to a dietician who specializes in the FODMAP elimination diet.  You can then identify your triggers and eat a more balanced healthy diet
