Still no-one gets it!!!

Hi girls

So I think I'm Peri menopausal and after listing my symptoms on here, most of you do too....

I've been back to see a different doctor today, as the last one was useless. Lovely, patient male doctor today who listened and offered advice.

I really went as my rib/back pain is annoying. He still thinks it's muscular and even with all my other symptoms including the change in my menstrual cycle, length and heaviness, anxiety, warm surges, headaches, tiredness, no sex drive, to name a few, still doesn't think I'm Peri because my blood test done in February was normal level of hormone.

Can I ask....does anyone else suffer with rib pain and if so what they do for relief, I've been given anti inflammatory tablets and told to reduce full on exercise. Help!!!!

He has said he'll do referral to gynaecologist and consider anti depressants if my mood keeps jumping up and down.

SO FRUSTRATED why is it so hard???

Sheena x

Hi sheena.....i always get rib pain. And my doctor thinks I am peri. I have heard you can get muscle aches from hormone levels dropping. I take paracetamol when bad and get my husband to rub in anti-inflammatory gel as well. Mine hurt so much sometimes i find they are tender to touch.

Other times they are fine.....and its not related to any activity. Good old doctors think Antidepressants are the cure for everything sad

Janine thank god, honestly at the minute I think I'm crazy with the amount of symptoms I've got. My rib pain has got slightly worse hence the trip to the doctor, he's just advised ibuprofen.

Do you exercise?? I have just gone back to weight training it's full on and doctor has advised against it saying swimming or cardio would be better. I'm a bit gutted. X

hi. saw your post and I had this.  It was diagnosed as costocondritis (might be spelt wrong) and I had it for several months.  What helped in the end (after a course of anti-infammatories that didnt work!)  was physio.  he said that ribs were slightly out of alignment and fixed it in one session.  This helped and havent had it since. It might help you.  It was definitely brought on by hormones but the weakness was obviously there and the hormone fluctuating made it ache as it does everything else.  hope that helps.

Thank you so much for reply, that was one of the things I had come across in Google. I work for NHS so may see about physio thru them. Glad you're all sorted nothing worse than feeling sore but not unwell x

Hi sheena...I only walk for exercise. I also have my own cleaning business so that probably doesn't help. The rib pain only started since peri kicked in and I have cleaned for years so its not that. Maybe it is costochondritis like metamorphed says. I will mention it to the doctor when I see her and let you know. X

Thanks that would be good. I have self referred to physio thru work so they may shed some light. I am going to walk and start swimming.

I am never ill this started in January after an upset stomach and I seen to be getting NOWHERE just trying to ignore the pains and aches and stay positive, luckily I have a very supportive husband. X

hi sheena, oh I'll be looking forward to hearing how you get on!  just to add, this manoeuvre he did sorted my digestive problems aswell.   so if you're having any stomach problems it may well be the rib alignment problem too.

I get it all the time, mainly left side. I haven't found anything yet to relieve it. I think mine is gas.

Mine at the minute is mainly right sided, occasionally left and back so annoying. I hope you find some relief soon. I'm seeing physiotherapist thru work (NHS) next week so watch this space. X
