stitches coming away?

Evening all - just been to the loo and pretty sure that a stich has come away - I'll be 4 weeks post op on thurs - does this seem too soon? Am also now really nippy down there which I haven't been for a good few days - need to wait until I have had my dinner before taking my painkillers - don't want a repeat of yesterday afternoon 😨

Hi Deborah I'm 6 weeks post op tomorrow and started losing a couple of stitches a few days ago. I'm quite nippy too like something is prickling X

Yip that's exactly it Rosie - any previous pain down there has just been a general ache -  but it's like someone is sticking wee pins in there 😱

It's the tiny nerve endings as the sutures dissolve and come away from the repair.

Ah I did wonder what that feeling was. It's early for me to be losing stitches, I've only found about 4mm of one, but I have to remember I heal extremely quickly, always have, no idea why. I'm off the pain meds for the last 5 days and only have a little bit of discomfort.

I haven't had much swelling at all and only have a little bit now, would there be any reason for this? Shouldn't the swelling go down instead of the other way around? x

Rosie not sure I understand your question. You said you've had very little swelling which is good and could mean that your pelvic floor area is in good condition ie not thin.

I think I'm just wondering if it's bulging not swelling seeing as I haven't had this sensation before? I know you can't tell because you haven't seen it. My stream is still pointing in the same direction it was so I'm sure that's an indication that all is ok. It feels slightly fuller than it did but I suppose it's going through different stages of healing (trying to convince myself it's all ok I think). I'm going back to work a week on sunday, only 2 x 4 hour shifts and my manager said I can have a stool so I'm sure I'll be fine. I think I'm going through a scared phase. X

I think you are going through a scared phase Rosie. We all do it. Every lump, bump, pain and niggle causes some anxiety. The swelling from any surgery can appear different on different days and at the different time of day as well. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong. I don't think you need to convince yourself everything is ok because it is. Like most ladies following this surgery and I include myself here as well, we have too much time to think. You're doing great x

I'm sure it is ok. I have a feel every couple of days, only while in the bath. It still feels flat and from what I can tell it feels like the surgeon has stitched the whole length to the cuff. I'm glad about this because it was so baggy up there! It's all lovely and neat inside. I am also able to pull up more when doing Kegals. x

Sounds as though he's done an excellent job Rosie.
