Since having my gallbladder removed almost a year ago I'm
suffering with constant stomach cramps after eating . I'm barely eating
as everything causes me pain . The lack of food is causing me to have panic attacks.
I've seen a gastroenterologist but she did a blood test which was clear and said she
couldn't help me . As anyone got any suggestions as to where I go from here ?
I can't cope with this anymore .I'm exhausted from lack of food , I'm scared.

Hi Linda really sorry to hear you are having such a terrible time.Ithink you should go back to your doctor ,also have you tried eating really bland foods such as porridge, bananas are also good. what blood test did you have?Maybe you could get some medication to settle your anxiety to see if this would help.

So sorry to hear you are struggling. I was struggling with non stop cramps, and then came the non stop diarrhea about 5 months post surgery. The problem is the bile dripping in you stomach all day with no off switch. I tried all sorts of supplements and food eliminations. I'm finally free of the cramps and diarrhea. For me I have to stay away from all dairy or only a very small amount once in a while, parmesan cheese is ok because it's low in lactose(hard cheeses are.) I drink Oat milk / almond milk. NO coffee! only decaf espresso or decaf coffee. Low fat eating, not a lot of nuts, olive oil is ok. Best to stick with rice, steamed veggies and low fat meats. I can have salad but in moderation. Oatmeal is also your friend. I would also incorporate a fiber supplement, it helped me tremendously, either psyllium husk or Acacia Fiber once or twice a day, mixed in water and drink quick, start with a small amount. I had bad luck with probiotics and other digestive enzyme products, they actually made me worse. Good luck, I hope you find relief soon. I had a set back and wasn't able to leave the house for almost a week the summer, before I found fiber supplements. I also tried the bile binder Welchol, but I was in the minority of people that it gave side effects to. While I am no where near 100% I still have some symptoms I am able to leave the house. Life is not the same after gallbladder surgery.

I forgot to mention the fiber supplements are to soak up and mover the bile out of your stomach. Soluble fiber does that. What you have is related to excess bile most likely, there is no test for that. I had several stool tests, ultrasounds and blood work. My liver and pancreas are functioning normally. Usually the GI can start you on a Bile medication like Questran or Welchol and if that helps then you know its from the bile. The Welchol helped my stomach but gave me headaches, the natural version is the psyllium husks(Like Metamucil) or Acacia fiber. You can get these at Whole foods/ natural food store or on Amazon.

Hi,
I'm going on 3months post op. And I can definately say I so wish I would have done more research before having my gallbladder out. The only pain I have is major chest pain or heartburn when i eat something I'm not supposed too. Although I don't eat bad as it is. My pain comes the next day. I guess that's when your digestion tract gets going. I go to the gym everyday so that helps alot. I'm taking nexium and carafate which help. When you talk about questran and Welchol being bile binders. Do you mean binders to help stop runny bowels?? I don't have that problem. I've been thinking about taking probotics but I just don't know if it would be good or bad. My GI dr. isn't the greatest either. I'm scheduled to see another one next week. The only food that reallly bothers me is peanut butter...And I love peanut butter. I switched to almond butter but BOTH are so high in fat...Can't go there yet. Does anyone know if there is a medicine just for bile and not used for your bowels. Let me know you find out. And you are right,,,Life is NOT the same after GB surgery..I'm praying one day!!

I have got to the stage where I can't tolerate any food at all now
without suffering painful cramps and diarrhoea .I really mean ANYfood !!
I had a small amount of potatoes yesterday then it was a dash to the loo.
Does anyoneknow of ANYTHING I could try to eat . I'm so scared I'm going
to die from malnutrition with this .
I've tried a bile binder but it gave me side effects .
