Stomach cramps and Nausea

Posted , 2 users are following.

Been off fluoxetine for 12 days now after tapering off for 2 months after 4 months of taking it for mild depression. Been fairly okay in terms of withdrawal side effects until last night on the 11th night of being drug free. Couldn't sleep at all due to intense stomach nausea which feels like a knot in my stomach. Tried to be sick but I can't. Is this just a withdrawal side effect and how long can I expect it to last? I'm a 25 year old male. Any help or advice would would be much appreciated.

I hope you are feeling better. I just started 10 mg a day dose and I'm already afraid of the withdrawals. I hear that withdrawing with liquid Prozac really helps becuase you can micro lower the dose easier than with pills/powder. I heard that you have to taper off just as long as you were on the drug. So, maybe you need to stay on decreasing amounts longer than you are? Did the med help you at all? So far, it's cured my binge eating magically and after the first dose and I wasn't going to stop taking this ever if I felt better. What dose did you start off with and what are you down to now? Hope you are okay.

The meds did help me but left me with very achy muscles and joints, this is the first thing I have felt side effects wise since stopping. I was on 20mg a day for around 3/4 months and have been lowering my intake over 2 months until I felt okay to stop. I'm pretty sure this is just a normal side effect from withdrawal as my body gets use to being without it but just looking for reassurance and any advice from anyone who has experience something similar and how long it lasted, at the moment feels like I'm being punched in the stomach. Is it something you have come across? Hope you are successful too, keep up your good work.

Yes, you are def experiencing what some people have reported in their withdrawals. Apparently, it's sort of like the flu - exactly what you are saying is happening to you with sore muscles, stomach issues and achy joints. I hope you feel better soon. X0

Thank you for replying so quickly ?? I hope your right and it's just something I have to deal with in the short term which I'm sure it will be, you know what they say you have to get worse to get better. Had to phone in sick at work today which is annoying but rest will do me good. I probably should try and eat as feeling nauseous and not eaten in 12 hours. Thanks for your help. Xx
