Stomach issues are killing me - any advice???

Hi helpful ladies
I have suffered from diarrhea/loose bowel movements for over a month now and my anxiety has increased.
Some days I have an almost normal bm in the morning and that's it bust most days I go several times (often worst in the morning).
Some days my stomach aches, some days I feel very gassy etc.
I have read that lack of estrogen can cause diarrhea and change in bowel movements.
I am 46 and have been peri for 2-3 years but it has worsened since april.
Any of you experience what I do, and have you got any advice for me?

Hi - I have always had digestive issues especially in the morning which are worse before my period. I find cleaning the intestinal track with Citucel and not eating after 7:00 the night before helps. I have also discovered Pepto Bismo which I take if I sense my stomach is still churning. It seems to help but you can't take the entire tablet or you will have the opposite problem the next day.
VSL 3 is supposed to be a good probiotic for those with IBS. I take it but am not sure if it helps that much but swear it builds immunity. Peppermint tea or oil capsules (i.e. IB Guard brand) are supposed to help with IBS as well.
Maybe you have developed a food intolerance? I find certain foods such as avocados, nuts, popcorn and fruit wreak havoc on my digestion but only at certain times of the month. Unfortunately eating refined carbs such as pasta and rice seem to agree with me.
Lastly, birth control pills often calm the hormonal highs and lows. I took it for the last part of my 40s. I would be on it now but my doctor said there are too many risks beyond the age of 52.
I hope you feel better soon.

Fiber supplements might help. I take Benefiber twice a day. It's supposed to bulk up the stool to help when you have constant loose BMs. A probiotic is a good idea too. Then look at your diet. Try eliminating possible culprits like dairy and gluten for a while - a few weeks. Add them back slowly - one at a time - to see if symptoms return. Try not to worry - that makes it worse! Good luck!!

You might want to look into changing your diet bit to see if that helps.. I was at the library this past week reading about Paleo--- just reading more about it. But I remember that it said something about digestion issues and IBS... making it easier on the stomach and such. Maybe you need more protein and healthy fats in your diet....
