Strange hemorrhoidectomy question

I had a hemorrhoidectomy yesterday and everything went well. But today I went to have a bowel movement and forgot that I had gauze in my rear to prevent bleeding. I think I had a small movement and wiped myself, flushed the toilet and then remembered the gauze. OMG. Had I pushed it inside of me? My husband looked and couldn't see anything. It probably came out and was flushed, but what if it's inside? Is that dangerous?

    Did you get stitches? Even if you didn't the open wounds aren't big enough to take the gauze in. Even your butthole....it wouldn't go up there. I lost gauze in the toilet so many times.

    PS, don't wipe. If you have stitches you can pull them out. Use your shower head to clean after a BM.

    Also, look in the toilet before flushing. A lot of people bleed, I did not. I say look just so you know if you do have blood in your stools. Just monitor until you fully heal.
