Successful meeting with Manager and HR

I promised to let you all know how I got on today. Overall, the meeting was good, work are very sympathetic and want to know how they can help me. Unfortunately, as a teacher who lives 30 miles from college there isn't much they can do! The HR lady said her friend's mother has Fibromyalgia and has recently had to take redundancy because she can't cope, so she had some understanding of the condition. Not sure what will happen next exactly, they are waiting for me to see CMAT and take it from there. One good thing was that they encouraged me to go out when I can, I was feeling guilty about trying because I am off work sick! Not that I will be gallivanting around -I can't!!!! I do feel better for having seen them and it was good to catch up on work news!

That is good news, I'm like you, old school, pardon the pun, we feel if we are off sick we shouldn't leave the house. When I've been off sick work encouraged me to go out too, it feels very strange doing it. I guess there isn't much they can do for you in your position except be supportive.

    take care, hugs

Hi Pilipala I am so pleased for you that the meeting went well, what  a relief for you.It was good that the HR lady had some understanding of fibromyalgia. I think getting out if you can will do you good, I find it helps to lift my spirits just getting out of walls and seeing a different scenary will help you.If ever I was off work I would never go out as felt if you were off work, you shouldnt be seen out.?next thing is seeing what happens next. Thank you for letting us know how it went I was wondering how it was going.next thing for you is getting out in the fresh air and if the sun is shinning thats even better. take care gentle hugssmile

Thanks Kaz, it is a relief, I will try and get a change of scenery more now, even if it means I am shattered as a result! Luckily I live in a beautiful place 10 mins from the sea and mountains, so I intend to make the most of it if I can! Gentle hugs xx

I would get out if you can and enjoy the beautiful scenary where you live. I would do anything to be living by the sea or in devon I love devon. I cant go far now in the car as I find it too tiring and it hurts my back. but even a little ride out for 20 mins helps. it will do you good to get out get some fresh air in your lungs and a chang e of scenary take care gentle hugssmile

I know what you mean, I am the only driver, my husband is disabled and can't drive 10 mins is my limit before I have to stop and stretch my back and knees! Pembrokeshire is lovely and similar in feel to Devon too. I am very lucky to live here! Take care, gentle hugs or as we say in Welsh cwtsh (hugs) x

That's great news. When you have people who understand and support you, then that is one less worry to consdier. I am sure HR will support you all the way.

One day at a time. Onwards and upwards. Take care wink x

You're right Bee, when I read all the horror stories about how people are treated on different forums, I do count myself really lucky, a supportive DR, and now a supportive HR person! So yes onwards and upwards. Gentle hugs xsmile

I'm very pleased for you, and glad your work, HR and Doc are supportive.  It truly really takes a lot of stress and worry off your shoulders/mentally...  We can develope anxieties over such lack of other's nill recognistion of our issues and plight.  To have a more settled, recognised and understood approach to your situation and coping mechanism's gives you strength and confidence in coping, going forward...  Bless ya and long may this approach reign...  Awesome

Thanks Deb. You are so right, that understanding and support has made all these changes I am making as a result of Fibro a little more bearable, not that it's easy for any of us to admit we can't do as much is it?

      Still,onwards and upwards! Gentle hugs.
