Successful menopause treatment

I just want to let other ladies suffering at this time with horrible menopause symptoms that it can be dealt with successfully. I began the year with every symptom of menopause you can name, and really severely. Today, thanks to my Dr, I feel like a new woman. I am on HRT patches, and they, together with good vitamin supplements, and, diazepam in small doses as needed, I feel 15 years younger both physically and mentally and I've been through hell in both, for a very long time. If you get offered HRT give it a try if you can. I know results vary from person to person, I believed I was destined for prolonged, and incurable misery, but not so. So don't lose hope and keep trying all that is offered to you, you may find a wonder cure out there, I know I have. Love to all you ladies out there who are making this journey along with me. XXX

I'm on my second lot of patches and don't feel great... quite upset as my mother used patches and, like you, felt like a new woman.

Wish I could feel that way!

Glad that this treatment is working for you, it's so nice to hear success stories. 😊

Keep in there, it varies as to how quickly you get full benefits. Stick with it, I'll pray they work as well for you. X

Great to hear your doing good Tina , I wouldn’t get on with HRT as i have Hashimoto/underactive thyroid and on thyroxine. Seemingly not a good combination. And I am very sensitive to medication as I have coeliac ... glad someone has seen the light at the end of this horrible tunnel . Take care 💕

Thank you Clare. I am very drug sensitive too, as I have 4 maybe 5 autoimmune disorders. I am also a high risk taker, as I have previously had strokes, am very overweight due to steroid use for 32 years but I was so debilitated by my symptoms, my Dr came out to see me, took one look and said you are going on HRT and we'll monitor you closely to ensure you are ok. It's the best thing I've ever done. My risk factor is slightly increased of having another stroke, but I was a total mess 3 months ago, and now I feel better than I have in years. Patches won't upset your gut, as the hormones are absorbed straight into bloodstream through skin. It shouldn't affect your thyroid treatment either as if you were still making these hormones in your body naturally, you would still take the thyroxine. I have a friend who takes thyroxine, and she also uses patches, so I don't know why you think you can't use them. Have you talked to your Dr about it? Maybe it would be worth talking to your endocrine specialist who prescribed your thyroxine. Don't give up hope, investigate. X

Hi Tina I am in the UK and it’s very hard to get referred to an endo unless your TSH blood levels are very wrong . I have to pay privately for my blood tests as out NHS doctors don’t think it’s necessary to check all your blood . It’s an ongoing clash here trying to our doctors to take thyroid disorders seriously .

I have been on thyroxine for 20 years and I am very aware what works and what doesn’t work .my friends mum was on both thyroxine and HRT and she said a big NO No as she was ill for years trying to get her thyroxine level back to the right dose age .. I’m maybe too scared or not at that desperate stage yet . I’m making and using golden paste (turmeric ) and the lady care magnet .

Where are you in the world 🌍?

      Clare 💕

Sorry hun, just reread your message and realised you are in UK too. Why on earth are you paying for blood tests which should be freely available via your Dr and under nhs you are entitled to see an endo especially as you already have thyroid problems. DONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. You are entitled under the law to see a specialist on nhs and have free blood tests that are necessary. My Dr does mine, full bloods, every other week to check all my levels. I also get regular gynae and endo appointments to keep an eye on what's going on. I cannot understand why you are having to pay for bloodwork or are finding getting to see an endo so hard. You need to question your Dr about this, it sounds well iffy to me? X

    What patch? Specifically?

So glad you have found relief!!

Hi kelle, the patch is called evorel sequi. It is an oestrogen and progesterone combined patch system. I had come off HRT pills, 8 weeks prior, due to needing a special blood test, I got the flu, felt really, really bad, and realised the menopause symptoms were coming back, so slapped on my first patch and within 24 hours, was feeling better. I am now on my second patch, and feel better than I have done in years. I never expected to feel this good just due to changing from pills to patches! Amazing! Try them if you can. X

Tina, are the risks lower with patches?

Hey Suzanne, I think the risks are about the same with any HRT, I am considered a high risk for HRT, but I was suffering so badly from extremely bad symptoms, that as far as my Dr was concerned the pros outweighed the cons. X

So great to hear that you have found releif . I am 55 and going through every symptom in the book , feel like my body has totally betrayed me . I would love to get on HRT . But have high risk breast cancer in the family ,so don’t think this is an option . Natural products have literally done nothing for me and I have tried to everything .

Go and see your Dr and have a talk about it. My medical history is a mystery as I was subject to a closed adoption, back in the 60s, so it is unknown as to whether I have a history of breast cancer in my immediate female birth relatives so its possible that I am also high risk for that but the pros outweigh the cons in my case, as my menopause symptoms were so bad I couldn't function normally at all. Sometimes you have to take risks in life, after all you put yourself at risk each time you get in a car and we all do it and don't think about the risks. So you need to discuss how bad you are with your Dr and ask if you can take her with your family history. X
