    Hi John,

Diazepam should never ever be stopped abruptly. It is dangerous and can be lethal. any doctor who is unaware of this should not be practising at all.

No wonder you went through hell on earth!!!

I often wonder who should take the ultimate responsibility for the repeated prescribing of these deadly drugs. once known as the "mothers little helpers" (Rolling stones) have created a generation of involuntary addicts.

We are supposed to be able to trust our doctors...…

    On your side!!!

Benzos can do nightmares. Should really taper and not just stop them. They will alter your mind and it takes a while to come off them. I hope your life changes around. I think it will. Hopefully you have a doctor that will help you to taper off when it is time to do so. If not....Look for another doctor that will. all doctors are different. Good luck John and please keep us posted. One day at a time my friend. Ruby S.

Well, I think the answer to that is obviously not. I assume they either didn't know you were on valium or they didn't understand anything about detoxing safely from it. It's a shame you reinstated at your full previously dose and not a little less because your tolerance would have dropped in a little less would have been much more. You don't want to be on this s*** forever.

Hi benzodiazepines are not recommended for than 2 to 3 weeks .

Weaning/tapering has to be done very, very slowly. If u google The Ashton Manual you will see detailed instructions on weaning off benzos, opiates etc al.

The dangers of taking benzos are much more acknowledged and

recognised by drs and they are reluctant  to prescribe them . Take care .
