I was put on 20mg for 4 weeks too, then my dose got upped to 40mg now on week 3, have been to hell and back but for the past 2 days Ive noticed im feeling better, better mood, the shakes, have gone. I do feel anxious daily  but it's more tolerable. Im assuming in the long run this will pass, but we have to endure pain before healing right? I only go to work and home, but dont have the courage to go anywhere just yet. Im praying for the best. Hopefully you can find something to make you feel better, a new med.

Hi Madison i know the feeling, At least you have convinced me the tablets have loads of side affects these days, i personally don't think they are the same as they used to be... I have also had weird symptoms from Fluoxetine this time, had them years ago with no affect, which tells me they could be generic.... I am on over 8weeks on fluoxetine, had an odd good day, but still feel full of anxiety depression, trembling, nausea, no appetite loss of weight, I have only just calmed down a little, as i do calm a little of a night, bad at the moment during the day, but i must admit I have been told on this site, that fluoxetine cantake a long while to get you right, I do hope that is so, i suppose it depends on how bad you have been in the first place, and I know I was very low, never felt as bad as this in my life.... i look forward to being better, and i am sure you do too... i also had different tablets, and left off for weeks, but i am not trying anymore... Just hope these work in the end.... there is a lot of positive feedback on this site, people have told me they have got better, it just takes time, maybe more time for some people..... Hilary

The first few weeks on fluoxetine it put me through helll and back. Worse then before. But it's the drug working. Most of the times it will increase the side effects for a couple of weeks then it kicks in and you will feel alot calmer and balanced. That was happened with me and I thought nothing could help me. Though those bad times I need to breathe and say to myself it's just the anxiety messing with you. I am still recovering and it's been about 5 weeks now. I still have my bad days but it's alot more controlable and I can think it through. If you still feel the same after a couple of weeks. Might need to change the medication. Keep in mind there is nothing wrong with that.

I think you came off the meds too quickly.  Your body was trying to adjust to Fluoxetine, then it was reduced for a week so your body tried to adjust to that, then you had days with no medicine and again your body was trying to readjust once more, plus the introduction of Citalopram and now Propranolol it's no wonder you feel ill - your body is confused and screaming at you.

When starting meds it takes your body a while to adjust, and the same happens if you have a dose increase or decrease.  Some people suffer worse than others with side effects, and some find one type of meds better than another.

Propanolol is a beta blocker not an SSRI like Fluoxetine or Citalopram.  Maybe you need to let your body rest a bit, go back and see your doctor and discuss again about starting Citalopram or even Escitalopram (apparently this one has less side effects and acts quicker) ..... I'm not sure if you can take an SSRI with Propanolol, ask your doctor, but if you can't you'll need to wean off Propanolol slowly over about 2 weeks before starting a new meds.

Citalopram, Escitalopram or another SSRI will help you, but you have to give them lots and lots of time.  Maybe start on a small dose such as 5mg so as to reduce the side effects?
