Hi all, last week i was given orlistat by my doctor, i didnt actually go to him for it , he just gave it to me, here is my story.

I am a 40 yr old single mum,Im 12st and 5'3\" tall with a BMI of 29, i have had 3 ceasarians, a hysterectomy, and a major pelvic opperation, so i have been cut across my middle 5 times.Last month i went to london and had a consultation to have a tummy tuck/ bodylift, which was approved and pencilled in for oct.

I went to my doctor concerning my hips hurting, and usually i see another doctor, but this time i saw a doctor i hadn't seen for a year, he noticed i had put on a lot of weight around my middle, and weighed me only to find i hadn't put any weight on, but he was worried about the excess weight centered on my middle as it can lead to diabetes and heart attacks.

He also said i was right to have tummy tuck/lift, but as i was going to need a double hip replacement so i was going to be cut across again!! this would result in all the good work of the lift and tt being ruined and i could return to how i am now.

So at his suggestion he put me on orlistat to lose some weight before my hip opperation (which isn't booked yet) told me to put off tummy tuck, and try to lose 1 1/2 st. But that was that, he didnt give me any more info , no leaflets, no do's and donts etc.Just told me i would be weighed monthly, and no weight loss no more tabs!!

He gave me a months worth of orlistat, so i came home clutching my bag, and went online to find out more.......omg!!! horror stories galore, orange oil, green oil, accidents at work, at home outside!!! .

I was petrified of taking one.But i did and all has been well except after sunday lunch even tho it was skinless chicken, i had the usual 4 roast pots and gravy, and in the morning a small amount of oil was seen.

Im going to keep watching these posts as they are a great help and you all give great advice, i will pop in from time to time and give my menus and weight loss. good luck to you all[/color:160b5a6b11][/size:160b5a6b11]

I have been really good since taking these tabs a days menu looks like this,

breakfast bowl of weetabix skim milk

lunch pitta bread stuffed with lettuce ham and cottage cheese

dinner grilled pork chops boiled potato and lots of mixed veg

3-4 cups of tea skim milk n sweetners, snacks wholemeal toast, low fat crisps, yoghurt.

but yesterday i really tested them out lol

breakfast weetabix skim milk 1 boiled egg

    lunch cheese on toast

dinner pork chop with homemade macaroni cheese

    pudding cake and custard

no accidents so far, but 20 mins in loo this am lol, so i know they definatly working !!!!!!!

im back on track today, it was just to test them, but basicly what ive found is people who say they are rushing to the loo and getting caught out when shopping etc, MUST be cheating or have their portion sizes too high.

well back to normal today, just going to get my brekki good luck all.[/color:a8296fe809][/size:a8296fe809]

Yep, thats another thing I was doing. Portions a tad too big.

The girl from Xenicol said...imagine ur dinner plate....half it. 1 half is totally for veg or salad....the other half....quarter it. 1quarter for carbs....other for proteins...

So Im back on track today....fingers crossed.

Hi. Just to let you know my experiences to date. I am 52 years of age and have been overweight most of my adult life. I now have high blood pressure so Dr put me on these tablets four weeks ago and I have lost a stone so far!! I have another 7 stone to lose so know it is going to take some time. I started by taking just one tablet at my largest meal (as advised by Dr so that I could get used to them) after 4 days (and no problems) started taking a tablet at two meals - lunch and dinner (I don't eat breakfast very often). I also have started eating sensibly. Have been following the weight watchers diet as I have all their books from the time I went a couple of years ago. I have also started walking. 15 minutes a day on 3 days a week. Hopefully will be able to up this once I lose a bit more weight. Feel more energetic already!! Am feeling really positive at the moment but will let you know how things are going. I think dieting is a lot to do with getting yourself in the right frame of mind!:D
