Evening all, so I have my Surgery tomorrow at 12:30 and I am currently feeling extremely anxious and nervous about it all. Not so much the actual operation but about how I will be feeling after and the recovery! I have seen some people on here have been suffering horrendously.
Any advice/tips will be fab

Hi! I was also very anxious before my surgery, today is day 16 for me and every day I feel better, I did not have pain at all but you will know it as soon you wake up from surgery and if the pain is bothering you take the pain meds right away and don't wait until it gets bad , you will be fine! It's not a bad surgery , I still feel bloated and a little bit sore , I'm still eating a low fat diet , you will do well! Let us know tmrw and good luck!!!!!

I had my gallbladder out laproscopically a year ago. The worst part for me was the waiting for surgery. Afterwards, try to get moving as much as possible. It will hurt, I won't lie. But it gets easier every day. I was told the worst is the gas pains that can travel to your shoulders from gas trapped from when they do the surgery. I fortunately only had mild shoulder gas pains. Make sure you walk if you feel any gas pain in your shoulders, it'll help relieve it. The next few days will be a little rough but nothing you can't handle. Take it slow, sleep a lot & you'll do fine. Good luck!

Hello Fiona
? I was just thinking today as I read your note I was in the same boat this time last year I had mine out onAug 2,16.
?I was so scared first ever surgery first in hospital and if I would have read something to ease my mind like this forum before I may could have been a little more relaxed.
?All will be fine just remeber to walk around the house or apt so you don't have gas buildup and something
?cold to chew on your throat may be a little dry.
?Other than that all will be fine and I look forward to your post tomorrow to keep us updated!
?Be well all will be just fine!
?Any questins feel free to write back.

Hi Fiona. I had my operation on Friday 14th July and had to go in for the afternoon list for my operation, like you. First thing I would say is be prepared to wait. I didn't go down to theatre till4.45, which meant they kept me in overnight, and I was discharged on the Saturday. I didn't actually mind this though. It is perfectly natural that you are feeling a bit scared/anxious, but please try not to worry. The hospital staff will really look after you, and if you are worried about anything do ask.
You will come round in Recovery after the operation. Someone will be watching you very closely and checking you. If you feel any pain at all they will too you up with extra pain relief. I felt some pain so they gave me some extra morphine. You will be very tired, and probably a bit confused, but you will be looked after closely. There will be some discomfort, on moving, sitting up etc. You may also feel some discomfort around your upper back which will be due to the CO2 they inflate your abdomen with for surgery. When you are able try walking round a little as this will help disperse the gas. Take your pain medication around the clock at least for the first week, don't wait to see if you are in pain.
Even straight after the operation, I could tell I felt better than before. I can eat most things without any problem at all! I am still a bit bloated, but I am less than three weeks post op.
Good luck for this afternoon. You will be fine! Most people recover well from this operation. Any more questions just ask me. Let us know how you get on x

Hi Fiona! I'm glad you are home and doing well!
Yes I had bruise around the belly bottom and upper incision but no bleeding , just call your doctor and ask about that so you can be in peace, happy healing!

Hi Fiona. Yes I had bruising straightaway around the incision sites. My belly button dressing has bled through by the time I was in Recovery and so was changed there, and again has bled through by the time I was back in the ward. Another incision site had also bled. Both dressings were changed again. Try not to worry. Did they check the dressings before you were discharged? Did they give you any other dressings to change them? If you are in any doubt I would ring the number they should have given you. The dressing will probably need changing. I am sure it won't be bleeding now, so will just need a wipe clean and redressing. I was told to remove the dressings two to three days after surgery anyway. I still have scans on three of my incision sites.

It's not a great deal, just noticed it thru the see through dressing. Bruising is pretty spectacular tho lol

Bruising will fade. Took a couple of weeks for mine to go. If you are worried about the bleeding ring the doctors at the hospital. I am sure it'll be okay. Take care.

I can see how you feel. Everyone's experience is different. As soon as I had my gb op I felt so well. I had lunch immediately, I didn't have any pain whatsoever. Since then I have been fine. Expect to take it easy a lot !!!! Tiredness will dictate to you for rest. When you feel well on the odd days do not overdue it do with heavy lifting. .7.1/2 weeks since op I now have the turning point and feel very well. Do not worry about pain if you have it ( I didn't ) after the op it's the gas they use in the op escaping. You have to be on your own ha ha. Good luck you will be fine.
