suspected ovarian cancer. need to talk...frightened

Hi

I have recently had an us scan which revealed several cysts on my left ovary. After my scan I went to work where I received a phone call from my gp saying they suspect ovarian cancer and that I needed a ca125 blood test. I literally fell of my chair and totally broke down. I have had the test which showed a raised level of 54. I believe it should be below 35.

Needless to say I'm totally beside myself. I have another scan on Wed. Apparently there is a solid mass in the middle of it. The whole thing including the cysts is 9 cm by 7 cm.  so to me this seems concclusive !!! Has anyone else experienced this. Any advice / chat will help me. I'm hating waiting and not knowing. I have 2 little girls and I'm scared of them not having themummy . Xx

Hi everyone. Had second scan this morning and feel slightly more reassured. The specialist said she doesn't think it's malignant ( but can't be totally sure) I need more testing. She seems to think it might me endometriosis and cysts. Which I can handle. Thanks so much for your support. Hopefully all not too bad x x x x x

Hi annya- I understand how scared you must feel and I am scouring the internet for information. The waiting kills doesn't it. My cysts were found before Xmas one on each ovary 5cm and 8cm ,then had a 2 week wait for results of CT scan- because the liaison nurse said there was no fluid in the abdomen and nothing had showed up elsewhere in the body I told all the family I was fine- just need a hysterectomy which I don't mind so much as I don't need my bits any more.Today I received an appointment with an oncologist next Monday. My mind went into overdrive again when I saw that word. Apparently because of my age and being post-menopausal etc they are treating me as tho I MAY have ovarian cancer so that I am in tthe right hospital, right surgeon etc. I was told by the liaison nurse that my blood being 27 was good, but if they had been in the 100s or 1000s we would be having a different conversation. Yours at 54 doesn't seem as bad as many. Are you having a CT scan on Wednesday? That might reassure you as it covers the full body. Ask your doctor / nurse questions Don't worry on your own. I think even if the worst happened and I had ovarian cancer they can remove it all and recovery rates are good. You'll be around for your 2 little girls for a long time. Ovarian cysts are very common. Take care I'll think of you on Wednesday.Keep in touch xx

First time I've ever been on these discussions but Ineed to talk to someone as my doctor iisn't giving me much information as I can tell they don't want to scare me. Basically I've been having abdominal pain bloating back pain needing to wee more and tiredness for over 2 years doctors kept putting it down to periods stomach spasms even ibs for ages but said they'd send me for a scan last year unfortunately that had to be postponed as I found out I was pregnant so couldn't do scan had my son he was 7 weeks early as I have a history of bleeding in pregnancy and my waters broke. Been advised before there could be an underlying problem and that I should get a smear but they won't do it because of my age. Anyway shortly after having my son I got the coil in. While there the doctor done an internal and could feel a mass near my ovary done a scan and I could tell by her face she was worried was sent for more scans and it was confirmed I had a large mass on my left side of my pelvis but they wernt sure what it was so am awaiting an emergency mri but it could take up to 12 weeks to get an appointment. They done blood tests an 1 of the blood tests ca-19.9 came back elavated I'm quite concerned as I no its a sign of pancreatic cancer and that runs in my family as well as colon cancer. I'm just worried as it's going to be ages till my mri and that's with an emergency appointment and doctors aren't saying much as they want mri first before they talk to me. I can understand why as they don't want me worrying but if anything it's making me worry more as I've noone to talk to about it
