I have been menopausal for 5  years  4 years ago I went on HRT for 12 months i put on 2 stone (at 5ft 1 inches thats not good) and no change in anything else i came off them. over the next 18 months it got less and less to the point of no periods and no flushes/sweats. YIPEE I thought until 3 months ago the sweats came home and got gradually worse and worse.

Last weekend i could have cried as the sweats were so hot they were painful.

Monday I had 26 flushes in 12 hours !!!! enough was enough doctors I went  and pots of blood later to find out still in madness i really dont want to go down the HRT because of weight gain (not vanity - i run and cycle)

PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP WITH ALTERNATIVE TO HRT I NEED SOME SLEEP

Hi, how awful for you, I can only suggest Wellsprings, go on their web site and read about Bioidentical Hormone cream. I have found this cream brilliant for my problems, and I've kept my sanity. It's only £14.99 + £5 postage and it is well worth a try, I had results within 2 days. Was so relieved. Good Luck, Margaret

You have my sympathies. It is so debilitating. I too suffered from severe hot flushes and lack of sleep as a result. I had to carry hand towels to work to mop up the sweat - yuk!I cannot use HRT as my mother had breast cancer related to her HRT treatment.

I tried alternative therapies, vitamins, phytoestrogens and nothing made a difference to me.

Luckily I have a good GP who suggested that I take a non therapeutic dose of an antidepressant called Effexor (37.5 mg per day).

The hot flushes gradually diminished over the following 2-4 weeks and now I don't have any at all unless I forget to take the medication ! Worth some research .

Good luck and let me know how you get on.

    Hiya,

I use Menopol plus which you purchase from simply supplements and has very good reviews for hot flushes. Or why not try a Ladycare magnet which you wear on your underwear and again that has good reviews. Good luck xxx
