Hi Jennifer you may need to go to gp and get levels checked. I have been over active for 3 yrs now and they can't stabilise my meds. I have been on various doses from 5mg to 40mg.  You may need slight increase which blood test will help decide this. I find some weeks are worse than others. Hope you feel better soon x

Hi, I feel the same as you! Went to gp today and he said because tiredness etc been in system for a few months gonna take a while to get back to "normal"  I started carbimazole a month ago, 40mg, thyroid back to normal so reduced the dose to 30mg, now just waiting to see specialist, might be worth going back to gp to get checked just in case.

You definitely have to know your blood work results along with your symptoms to be able to manage this disease. When you do have blood work done, ask for a copy of the laboratory report and keep them in a file so you can see patterns. This will empower you to manage your disease as a partner in your health care along with your doc. Also do research online and learn all you can about your disease. It will get better if you do.

    Hi Jennifer,

I started out with a diagnosis of overactive thyroid. Doing my own research over several months I realixed that my thyroid issue was actually secondary to the real issue, which was adrenal exhaustion. Now I am treating the adrenals, which is the root cause. This is a common "misdiagnosis."

Also, remember that an overactive thyroid can have many causes. Graves disease needs to be officially diagnosed and then treated as such. However, I think many interchange the two (Graves v. general overactive thyroid) but Graves is treated differently.

The reason I think you may have an adrenal issue is because my blood test results showed that my overactive thyroid was now "normal" but I kept having symptoms and didn't feel any better. That led me to do more research and realize that my symptoms actually were the result of my adrenal fatigue, and my overactive thyroid was just a result of my adrenal issues.

Let me know if you need more info...

    Best of luck,

    Veronica
