First, I am going to admonish you to NOT begin tapering off of this med withour your Doctor's supervision. I don't know what your symptoms were that led you to begin taking Sertraline 4 months ago. That said, it is not uncommon for whatever symptoms you were suffering from back then to return, and maybe with more intensity -- which isn't good.

From what you wrote, you have already cut your dosage in half from the beginning of the taper. This, in my opinion, is way too much of a decrease too soon. Remember, your brain has been on this med now for 4 months, and your brain chemistry has gotten "used to it". Give your brain, your body, and your overall sense of well-being more of a chance to SLOWLY come off of this med.

Again, I cannot stress enough that you should be partnering with your Doctor in ANY increase or decrease in a medication such as this.

Hi, I'm on100mg of sertraline also and this has been for 10 days. In the first couple of days I had insomnia, severe palpitations, double vision, trembling, nausia, severe stomach pains during the night and felt really unwell, although with all this my severe depression improved slightly I wasn't crying so much.Oh I also suffer acute anxiety and take valium. After 5 days of these terrible side effects I revisited my Dr.He told me to hang in there and that these symtoms should ease that I have to give it a chance to work.So since then the symptoms have decreased to just bearable and my depression and anxiety has improved also I'm sleeping well at night.Thomas can you or anyone taking these meds, give me some advice whether this has happened to you or them at this early stage of treatment, and do you feel better with these annoying side effects.I feel I have them all and worried and confused if this is the right medication for me, as I have been on Prozac and Effexor over the years and they didn't help my depression especially the anxiety.

    Hi,

Hang in there. Sertraline (Zoloft) is notoriously bad initially. It may ease for you any day at this point; or it may take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to reach full effect.

?I have been on 200mg for 36 days (just over 5 weeks) as of today (7/24/16). My Doctor (now former Dr) started me on 100mg and witin 4 days upped me to 200mg. I was in hell for 3 weeks. Once the med started "settling in" with your body, you will feel better as time passes.

Hi,                                                                                                                     Thanks so much for your feedback on the 100mg of Sertraline (Zoloft) that I'm taking, and the predicament I'm in with all these terrible side effects. It has given me so much hope to hang in there with these meds as they really seem to be helping the severe depression and acute anxiety. So happy and relieved I found this website and to be in touch with friendly people who are or have experienced what I am going through.I don't feel so alone!
