Hi Joanne. Sorry to here about your situation,I hope it does get better for you. I am in the process of weaning myself off sertraline from a few months on 50mg..from my experience so far I have been having moments of shortness of breath, sudden anxiety 'Waves' & brain Zaps,my head also feels clogged & my ears have bursts of ringing in them...this is all without stopping completely yet.

Have you spoken to your doctor about your symptoms & has he/she given you any advice? I have been out & stocked up on multi vitamins, omega oils & lots of fresh fruit in the hope of helping 'flush' the chemicals out of my system more swiftly, after doing some online research I came across stories from others in the same situation so these horrible WD's are very common. The bit about this I find astonishing is it isn't warned about prior to starting, these WD's have the potential to heighten anxiety, lower mood & cause more problems than you had to begin with. I challenged a doctor last week about this in which I pointed out to him that AD's are infanct dangerous & his reply was "yes they are dangerous"! Try & keep busy, try & take your mind off it & battle through-you'll be fine in the end.

Thank you for the reply I might try talking to the doctor to see what they say and I hope it goes quite smooth for you coming off the tablets best of luck.

Best of luck to you also. Your doctor should be able to prescribe something to help relieve the symptoms. Look into it naturally as well with the fruit & vitamins etc-it's basically about cleansing your system out the same way you do after a night out drinking, the next day you drink lots of water to flush the alcohol out. All the best x

Joanne your symptoms are very real. Go to the link on this site called " sertraline withdrawal does it ever go away"? You will see many of us have suffered for many months. I'm now been sert. free for 16 months and still have withdrawal of nausea, tummy cramps most mornings, as well as tremours, ear ringing, and low blood sugar. Prior to sert. I drank copious amounts of coffee. I now experience anxiety after one cup, this also applies to one glass of wine!

I returned to my Dr. after still experiencing w.d. at 6 months. She told me no way this could be happening ~ Hello, these drugs change your brain chemistry! How could you know the effects of these drugs unless you've been on them? She wanted me to go back on them I said NO WAY, will I ever take another psychiatric drug! I never felt well on them due to side effects, and then the witdrawal symptoms are horrendous, at least for some of us!

I wish you people well and comnpletely understand what you're going through. I take vitamins, eat well and go to the gym three times per week, it all helps! One feels much improved after 40 minutes or so on the treadmill.

    Take care ~ hugs!
