Hi, I have been on 15mg of Mirt now for 4 weeks & want off, can anybody recommend a safe tapering routine to reduce withdrawal symptoms, I don't have access to the liquid version, only tablets. Thanks

I am not sure what is the best plan. I have read almost everything I can and some get off easy but seems to be minority. the 2 ways I have seen is CITA protocol or 10% reduction every 3 weeks. both are a lengthy process. it would be up to you if you want to try a decrease and see how you do but I would stay at least 2 to 3 weeks on reduction as some have reported withdrawal can take up to 2 to 3 weeks to show up.
I decided to compound mine to liquid and I just got it and will be following a slow taper plan. I've only been on 3 months and I'm sure I'm one of the unlucky ones as I tried to decrease early on when I was on a few weeks and had terrible symptoms and went back up and they went away. I wish you luck. keep me posted on your progress.

Thanks for your support, I have been taking 11.25mg for the last 5 days & feeling ok. Am going to start on CBD oil soon to help with the possible withdrawal symptoms I may face. I wish you all the best too!!

About to finish my 2 weeks on 11.25mg before going down to 7.5mg for 2 weeks, so far only withdrawals may be increased anxiety but not sure if it's the drug or all in my head? as have only been on Mirt for 7 weeks.

After 2 weeks on 11.25mg, I had my first 7.5mg tablet last night which I'll be on for the next 2 weeks before going down to 3.75mg.

Pretty good so far 4 days into 7.5mg, a little bit of increased Anxiety but that's probably from reading through some people's negative tapering off/withdrawal stories. Thanks for checking in on me!!

Hi Jordan you will feel a bit of anxiety it's normal I was on 7.5mg for over 8 months I tapered of from 30mg down to 15mg then to 7.5mg now I am on half of 7.5mg anxiety comes with this taper but body will adjust do it slowly though give your body time to adjust , and I was on 30mg for over 7 years but in the last 2 years I started to taper down dosages and only in last year which is now tapered from 15mg to 7.5mg
all the best

Hi David, I am planning on dropping doses every 2 weeks or so, depending on how I am handing the drops each time, I have only been on Mirt for 2 months, so hoping to be off in about 5 weeks time, will stay on 7.5 for another 10 days, then 3.75 followed by 1.875 then off...

After 2 weeks on 7.5mg, tonight I will drop my dose down to 3.75mg & see how I go on that for around 2 weeks. Been feeling ok on the lower dose so far, mostly just feeling tired & drowsy.

After my tapering going really well, the last 2 days I have hit a rough patch, very fatigued, no energy, body aches, almost like I have the flu & have been sleeping poor, I am currently 8 days on 3.75mg after dropping from 7.5mg, should I continue on 3.75 for another week, go to 1.875 or just stop now? I have been tapering for over 5 weeks now after being on 15mg for only 5 weeks. Thanks

honestly I would wait to see if you can stabilize on 3.75mg then taper after you stabilize.

that's great news. I'm tapering very slow with liquid. so far had a couple days of nausea and my insomnia is sticking around. not sure if it's the taper or just my regular insomnia as I've had it the whole time on mirtazapine. it improved some but now it's been a little worse since tapering.

Good luck with your taper, I am going to 1.875mg tonight. This will be my last dose level before jumping off as here in Australia we don't have the liquid unfortunately, only tablets.

Hey, I had been doing ok until this virus pandemic hit, now my Anxiety & Depression are back again just has bad as before I started the medication. Worried about my job which I may lose & have already lost money through other avenues so it's got me down in the dumps. I had no problem regarding withdrawals from the Mirt in the end but may have to get back on some sort of medication soon as my vitamins & CBD oil just ain't cutting it at the moment. Hope you are doing ok with your taper & in this current climate of doom.

sorry to hear that. I'm down to 7.5mg. I'm hoping the slow taper gives me a good chance of getting off. so far I've been ok and my insomnia isn't as bad as before. I'm always felt awake after I'd take it and now I dont. I dont really think it's the lower dose helping because I was on 7.5mg to original start with and it only helped me sleep 3 nights then it didnt anymore. I stayed on 7.5mg for a bit in beginning and it didnt work so went up to 15mg. I'm just going to keep at it. hopefully be off June or July.
