Ten Days Post-Op

I am just checking in to let you know that I am doing well. I have been home for a week now and other than difficulty with pain meds (switched to Oxy with no side effects), I am up and around now using crutches and a walking frame.
I am sleeping through the night, on my back, getting myself to the bathroom, having daily showers, doing my physio, eating well and resting often. My ankles were swollen when I got home but are better now after elevating them and icing my leg.
I removed my dressing two days ago and the scar looks good. No problems with it so far. My main issue is tiredness and stamina. I sleep most nights 8-10 hours and another two in the afternoon. I can't do much that involves using my hands, while standing up.
So I guess I will just listen to my body and slow things down for now. It hasn't even been two weeks! Amazing isn't it? I was going to post a photo of my incision but wasn't sure if that would be well received or not. If you are interested in seeing it, let me know.

You sound to me as if you are doing amazing. I am 15 days post op and my sleeping is appalling - constant broken sleep as can't get comfy so am shattered. I sleep in the afternoon and everything I do is exhausting. Saying that every day is getting a little easier. I'm on oxy 10mg twice daily now and regular paracetamol. Post op I was on 20 mg twice daily and oxy fast release every 3 hours. I'm hoping to step down from the oxy to dihydrocodiene in the next week or so. My incision looks a mess. I didn't have staples - I had internal sutures and glue/steristrips - they were removed last Monday - it's all scabby and rough and feels horrid so I keep moisturising it.
Good luck with your recovery and keep us posted xx

wonderful to hear you're doing so great. .
healing takes a lot out of energy, physically and emotionally. .
so feeling tired is normal and the best for now is to surrender to it,,
scars, or war wounds, have been posted here. ..so go ahead darling, be proud
big warm hug
