Tendonitis in non operated hip

Posted , 4 users are following.

I had a thr two years ago. All went well and new hip is great. The pity was I had a 11.7 cm leg length difference. I have since developed chronic tendonisis in un-operated hip which I can't seem to cure with rest, Injections and ice - no arthritis in that hip. Has anyone experienced same with leg length difference? I get many interrupted nights. I wear a shoe raise.

11.7 cm is over 4.5 inches ..... I am sure no surgeon would leave you like that.

11.7 mm is 0.46 inches - sounds more likely to me - and about the same as me, and I am having no difficulty adapting to it. Having said that, remember we are all different, and I may be able to cope with it more easily than most due to my pre-op fitness level.

It is entirely normal following THR to have some leg length difference, and is usually included in the disclaimers that we sign when giving permission to operate. Many people do have problems adjusting to it, shoe raisers are usually the best and cheapest method to find out if it is causing your pain.

Yes, you are right on the length! I thought that I had amended the message. I too was fit for the op though 68 years. Got over op really well. Oh well, we'll see if second injection works wonders.
