Terrified

I was at the doctor this morning as I noticed some ulcer-like sores on my genitals last night. The doctor did a swab test and sent me for bloodwork to check for syphilis, but she said it is most likely herpes. I am devastated. I have been in a monogomaus relationship for the last 7 months and the doctor kind of implied that maybe not everyone is being quite as monogomaus as I thought. I am going to wait for the test results before I talk with him. I took the day off and came home and just cried. I have no idea if I got it from him or if I have infected him. What if it has been lying dormant for years? I wouldn't even know who to talk to about it. I was always very careful to use condoms, but I was raped a couple of years ago and now I keep wondering if this is a result of that. I am afraid. My relationship is already on the rocks and I think this might be just enough to make him leave me. Please cross your fingers that the test comes back negative.

Once you come into contact with herpes, your first outbreak would be 2-21 days if there was no protection...

Not sure how true it is, but I've been told condoms will not protect from getting this nasty virus because the bodily fluids...

If you did contract herpes, it's not the end of the world, just very uncomfortable for the first few outbreaks, the first is the worst...

Just go to the doctor and get put on some valtrex, it's a wonder drug...

That's interesting to know. He has a latex allergy and it had been just over a week since I last saw him. Maybe the doc was onto something. Guess I will have to wait for the test results. Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately it does happen, the man I loved cheated (He swore he only gotten oral from a girl) and two days later I noticed a tiny little blister type thing that itched like hell, the next day I had a full blown outbreak, it hurt to pee and jumping in the tub was painful too...

I was so very devastated, but I got on valtrex and hardly get any outbreaks, maybe three or four last year... The longer you have the virus the less frequent and less painful they will be...

Not to be gloom and doom, but my first outbreak was YEARS after i was infected. My current partner was tested and his results were negative. Not 100% positive who it was but have a pretty good idea as there has only been One who entered through my exit (back in 2010). This past September i noticed a sore, went to my doctor, was tested. Then a couple days later blisters surrounding my anus and my results were in as Positive. This makes me know that this virus IS CRAZY, unique, and life altering. But at the same time 'it is ONLY a skin condition.'

Know you not alone, keep yourself informed, and stay true to yourself ? No guy is worth the gem that you carry in your heart!!! ?

So I suppose I need to wait for the results to figure out who it was. Either way I need to have a talk with the bf and convince him to be tested. This sucks.

Unfortunately, you cannot tell who passed this to you. Could only tell myself because my blisters were around by bum and i had only let one person go there. Ever! That narrowed down my suspect 100%. Will i ever contact him? Nope. Will i ever have contact with him? NOPE.

Hope you will get your questions answered.

      Best regards ♡

The results are in! Type 1. Both me and my bf get coldsores and the doc thinks he might have had one while performing oral on me. She said it is a very mild case and thinks my body has enough antibodies that she will be surprised if I ever have another outbreak as long as I keep my stress levels under control. She did not prescribe anything. Said to let it clear up on its own and that we should use non-latex condoms in future just to be safe.

    Phew!
