Test types for blood test

What is the test used for non specific blood tests? I tested positive for it but I called an info line for sexual health and they said that is a bad test and it's only 50% accurate and doctors don't tell you that . so I don't understand why do it at all then.

IGM is the less reliable test. You want to do the IGG blood test which is most accurate at/after 16 weeks post exposure

what would cause a false positive igm test ?

If it's positive then it's unlikely it's a false positive..I say go with IGG because that will let you know if it's HSV1 or 2 or both. It also may indicate if it's recent exposure or long term depending on value.

IGM test tends to be unreliable for false negative..IgM antibodies are made first, within weeks, but they don’t hang around. Think of them as first responders. IgG antibodies take longer to produce, but once present you typically have them for life.

igm is for recent infections. But def wait 3 to 4 months after exposure to get tested cuz that will be accurate.
