Hi. It generally takes 12 weeks for a blood test to detect hsv2 antibodies in your blood. You now have a baseline to compare as you may wish to test again at that time. It also generally takes 2 to 20 days with 4 days being the average for symptoms to present so each day that passes without symptoms is in your favor. I've read where Dr Handsfield, a noted STD expert has stated that any symptoms in the absence of blisters, sores then scabs is not to be a strong case for HSV2.

blood tests are not that accurate , put it this way the CDC doesn’t even recommend blood test for herpes when you go in for an STD panel anymore they say only the test when there’s lesions or something to get a culture on

i would wait another 4-6 weeks for blood test

i know it sucks to wait , try to relax

Why doesn’t CDC recommend testing everyone for this STD?

This is because diagnosing genital herpes in someone without symptoms has not shown any change in their sexual behavior (e.g., wearing a condom or not having sex)

thank you and i feel pretty safe bc i dont have crazy symptoms so its been about 50 days with zero symptoms, plus i slept with this person for month and got tested 12 days after the last time and it came back negative regardless of the fact im getting tested in a month again, making it 7 weeks after the first time i got tested. thank you but still paranoid haha

what if I had contact with a person who tested positive twice , but I tested negative 12 days later & then 4 weeks later too. Do I have to disclose to my next partner that I came in contact with a person who is positive even though I came out negative (twice).... this herpes thing is so tricky... I can be negative today and be positive tomorrow with no symptoms... or does you blood always carry the anti bodies regardless of symptoms.... I do not mind getting tested every 6 months but if I keep coming out negative even though I had contact do I have to disclose?

once you are infected, your body will produce antubodies which will show up in a test even after years with no symptoms.
