tests to ask for at dr appt??

Hi all.. still struggling here with daily sympotms. Trying to figure out if it is Peri or something else. I have an appt at my gynecologist tomorrow for a consultation. Any suggestions on what to ask for testing? My family dr. ran the basic CBC for my yearly physical and nothing showed up on Estrodiol or FSH. Feeling tired all the time, nausea, headaches, body aches, brain fog, eyes watering like crazy, insomnia and depends on the day a thousand other symptoms! haha... I am normally a positive, happy person but this is getting old and frustrating. Has anyone had blood test ran that showed things I may not think of I can ask dr. to look for?  Bio- identical vs prescription HRT? Appreciate any feedback! Thanks!

      Hi Karen,

Not a boat we want to be in but it does give some relief to know others have the same symptoms so know we are not crazy! smile I just turned 51. These symptoms just started the past couple of months. Some days I have all of them, other days only 1 or 2. I am not one to run to the dr. , so did some research and kept coming up as possible peri-menopause. Found this site and thank God for it daily! (My regular Dr. said I am not close to menopause and these must be stress related and I should take an anti-depression! ugh) I will follow up after my dr. appt if I can offer any insight for you and others. Thanks for the reply!

Mimi, ask to get bloodwork done for EBV. But make sure to get all 4 tests (some labs only do 3). You want 3 iGg (including Early Antigen) and 1 IgM. It might shed some light on to why you are feeling so poorly.

Thank you for the advice Suzanne! Have you had these tests run as well? Do you know of any complete vitamin level tests to check levels of Vit B, D etc? Have read that a lot of women having these symptoms do not have hi enough levels of Vitamin B in their system.

Yes, I showed reactivated EBV. Did you have mono as a teen? My D was low but have been working on getting it up. My ferritin was low. Also, after seeing an EBV specialist last week, she said my B looked low. I haven't gotten my labs back yet from her. She tested me for a whole slew of stuff. Women pass off these awful symptoms to peri but really it's peri causing your immune system to weaken and lets things reappear or appear. I'm on an antiviral now, hoping it will give some relief. Bioidenticals didn't do a thing, I think they made it worse.

Hi Mimi I went as you for a very dramatic time, I am still not 100 % but better I think. Ask the doctor for a complete hormone test panel, that will help him to figure it out at what step of your menopause are you exactly. I ended taking HRT Duavee which worked well for my hot flashes and irritation. My anxiety is a different story i am using Buspirone and help me a lot. Also app call Headspace is really good with relaxations.

Good luck with your doctor appointment no one knows how hard is for a woman this stage until you experienced yourself
