The physical changes of menopause

Posted , 11 users are following.

ladies,

I wish that the changes of menopause would confine themselves to being irritable, hot flashes and not sleeping well, but unfortunately they don't.  I guess the one thing that bothers me, almost as much as no sexual desire, is the changes in my looks.  Sometimes I look in the mirror and seriously think "Who's that?"

I would love to hear form other woman who are noticing REAL changes in their looks and bodies.  ANYBODY????  Sagging skin, thin shin, hair that is disgusting, hair that shouldn't grow in certain spots BUT it is.  Bat wings, and can't wear shorts any more??   Tummies that have a layer of fat that can only be described as Santa?  AM I ALONE HERE???

So if you have seen some odd changes, please submit your list.  I'd love to know how everyone else is coping with this.  Cause meno is for the birds.

Hi gailannie, yes I have noticed physical changes in a short amount of time also. My breast have fallen a little, they are less firm. I have fine lines on my forehead, which weren't there before. The texture of my hair is changing also. My skin is much drier, disgusting chin hairs.

I am also battling with vaginal dryness, along with decreased sexual desire too. Poor husband. Depressing isn't it

Sorry Maria, I couldn't help but chuckle just a little.  falling breasts, lines on the forhead, hair problems, dry skin, chin hairs, vaginal dryness and no libido!   Wow isn't this fun?   Can you believe that some scientist hasn't figured this out yet.  The guy would be a MULTI BILLIONAIRE.  Every woman around would be after that formula.

I was never obsessed with looks anyway, but now I am starting to join the ranks of the invisible population. Now I find myself looking at women who are younger than me and missing that youthfulness only hormones can give you.

Boy do I get that.  Sometimes I look at the comercials and think, "Hey chick it won't last!"   Can't wait till some of those hot shots make the change.

And hey everyone, how about that viagra commercial with the couple with the tubs on the beach?  Anyone get angry at that one?  The woman doesn't have the hangy breasts, and apparently still has a libido.  And it's the MAN who needs the little pill.  Ya right.

Lol that is funny. We women are constantly bearing the brunt of life's changes. When do we get a brake? Men get distinguished as they older. Women just get old, where is the justice?

I mean break, my mental skills are on the decline also.

There's a reason for that.  Nature wanted to make sure that no men would ever waste his time.  Ya know, got forth and populate, but not with her she's too old, it won't do any good.

Don't worry Maria, we got it.  None of us can spell any more, and this darn site doesn't have an edit button or spell check.

Saggy skin. Weight around my middle like a swimming ring. Wiry hair. Up grade from migraines to severe migraines with dizzy spells. Anxiety . Tiredness. Actually more sex drive I feel like a man. Wanting sex so often. 😂 brain fog

    Hi gailannie,

?I've been in peri for the last 3 years and had most of the symptoms but it is only just recently that I have noticed more lines and spots, not to mention the ACNE, I'm 52 for goodness sake but am starting to look more like 72 sad

?I'm not looking forward to the day my boobs decide to sag, I'm a big busted girl, it's not going to be pretty with my big boobs down around my waist....my husbands answer to that was "Don't worry if we have the money you can get them fixed"....

?The other thing that I have noticed is that I don't heal as fast as I used to, if I get a cut it seems to take forever to heal. My hair colour doesn't seem to last as long either, I started to go grey when I was in my late 20's and have coloured my hair for years but it doesn't seem to last 6 weeks before the greys start coming back, maybe my hair is starting to rebel??? Speaking of hair, whats with the random black hairs popping out of my chin or the side of my neck like some old grandma?????

?It's good to know we're not going crazy and that we're all in this together

    Take care biggrin

      Hi Anna,

Ya, aren't those wonderful black hairs on your chin simply wonderful?  Those happen because our testosterone is over expressing itself when we are lacking estrogen and progesterone.  When I started doing estrogen, one of the first things I noticed is that the chin hairs weren't there!

      It all just so lovely.

I hate the tummy that comes with menopause, i'm not doing anything different, swim three days a week for forty minutes but the bulging tummy wont budge! I have always had longish hair and I notice the sides dont grow as much as they did and it seems a little flatter, I try to uae body stuff for hair to make it thicker but I just feel more mumsy than I did with this tummy!

Oh ya, that squishy fat tummy is such a gem of menopause.  I guess I didn't really notice it till I looked at a picture.  OMG!  WHAT????

And those hair changes are simply horrible.  Most days, i don't think I can do a thing with my hair.  It doesn't lay right, move right, act right.  I guess I'm just lucky it's still there.
