THey say might be acid reflux

HI All,
it all started 25 days ago. One evening after a quite nice meal (Italian) I felt like I had air trapped in my upper back...it was terrible. I spent the evening pacing up and down and finally, with a series of chamomile teas, I burped and was better..but from that day on I haven't be well. At first anytime I wuld eat I would feel like cathar in y throat for almost two hours. Then I started feeling like "swords" - I am trying to describe a starnge feeling - coming up into my throat and throat ache when swallowing. At time, but only for couple of days, I had burning sensation in my stomach and pain in my uppr back. One day the pain in throat, after having used my voice a lot the night before, became really awful so that I went to A&E. They did checks for heart (all ok) and I had my throat check by a specialist with a rigid endoscope, all ok. My symptons fluctuate from the pain in the throat (refer to "swords sensation" and scratching, to sensation of tightness at the throat, to sensation of throat swallen when swallowing) to sensation of cathar. I went to the doctor, explain the situation, she gave me antibiotics thinking that cathar was left in my throat by the flu (that in the meantime had with high temperature, cold and cough). The antibiotics made me feel so bad - feeling sensation fo strangling in my throat - that I stopped them after 4 days (the cycle was 7 day). I went back to the GP and he said that it might be acid reflux - although not really convinced - and prescribed PPIs. I took my first PPI yeaterday. All other symptons are gone but now I feel like my throath cloggs up when swallowing. Nobody did a test on me to actually see if it is GERD. Today I did not take my PPI. Dunno what to do. Help!!!

So my advise is don't assume it is just anxiety and ask for as many tests as you can get. Good luck regards Ted

6th day on PPI. I now have mainly these two symptoms: really big bubble of air in the left of my throat - for quite sometime during the day - and consequent sore throat. I have also one episode of burning in my upper chest a bit to the right of the breast bone. These symptoms last for 5/6 hours a day, intensify before lunch meal (I take my PPi 1 hour before lunch). Is this a sign things are improving?
I would like to eat a bit more - I am losing a lot of weight and although I need it I find it scary losing it so fast (9kilos in one month) - but I am a bit afraid.

I have been 22 days on omeprazole. My symptons have improved significantly. I now mainly have tightness of throat couple of times a day, not more!
The downside is that my anxiety has increased and I am not sleeping weel (5 hours a night which for me - a regular 11 pm to 7:00am sleeper and on Saturdays more) is really not normal. I do believe that there is a link to menopause since I think - sigh - I am starting that process, too..(at least it looks like).
I have started to reduce my omperazole intake a bit (-1/4 of my 20 mg dose or a bit less) . It has been two days now. I will see my doctor again on Monday. I am still on a strict diet. I have lost a total of 11 Kgs (about 25 lbs), which in my case is good since I was severerly overwight (stiil 45 lbs to go if I really want to be on shape). I have decided that next week I will start gargling with alkaline drops.
So far the only tests I got are: heart full check-up, tyroid check, throat swab, blood work. All negatives thankfully.
