Tony, had the darn things from day 1, had injecions in hospital and pills at home. They are so tight, how they are good for the circulation, mine stops i swear......😄

I was supposed to wear mine for six weeks but when they started rolling down on my legs I couldn't cope as they were digging in and affecting circulation.  I removed them in first week.

I wore mine and injected every day for the full 6 weeks.....and complained about it every day. Oh the relief when that all stopped 😃

I wore mine for just 2 weeks.

At my 2 week check-up, I asked the PA if I could stop wearing them.  He checked my leg for swelling, which there wasn't much of and said I could stop wearing them whenever I wanted.  I stopped wearing them that day, which was half way through my blood thinner treatment.

That first shower is rather amazing, isn't it?  Pretty sure I ran most of the hot water out.

How are you getting along other than that? Have you started your torture sessions yet?

Hi sue I'm just over 5 weeks now and ditched the sox around 4 weeks. I am walking over a mile a day and my sox spent most of their time around my ankles like Nora batty!! ..I called surgeon who recommended I take them off

If they were around your ankles, you might as well take them off, they are  not able to do the job they were designed to do.

Finally ditched them at 6 weeks - pure bliss!

I also remember reading on the pre-op information booklet that I would be able to walk without sticks at 6 weeks ......... hmmmmmmmm .... no chance - I'm still on one stick, and a severe limp if I try to go a few yards without it.

Also, there was the line 'you may be able to drive' at 6 weeks ..... my surgeon says no driving until you can walk stick-free - which actually sounds very sensible.

and then there's 'return to work adter 6 to 12 weeks.  No way matey - if I cannot drive, or walk without a stick, I am not attempting to join the rush-hour commute into London every morning/evening.

Oh well, a bit more time off work I expect.

Good luck hippies, wherever you are in the world.

Why are people waiting weeks to have a shower?  I had one after about 3 days. You just have to wear a waterproof dressing, but they give you spares to bring home usually anyway.

I wore the socks for about 5 weeks in the end. I was told 6, but got fed up of them and felt fine, so dropped them.  I was on tablets for 4 weeks, no injections. Seems to be different depending on where you live.

The reason i had to wait so long is that my shower is in my bath, i had to figure away to get in as it is quite a high bath. Plus i never had waterproof dressings,

Wish I had waterproof socks ................. they were a nightmare, as neither my wife or me could budge them - had to get my son to do that, or have the shower with them on and then dry them on me with a hairdryer!

Waterproof dressings - essential for a lovely shower.

Did you have a walk in shower?  Not all of us do and it is difficult to get into a bath.
