I have been walking great the past two weeks from my Right Total Hip Replacement. Still having pain due to more my sciatic nerve than the hip so still in therapy and pain pills Had a big scare last night that I am still hurting from hopefully someone on here will be able to calm me down . My hubby bought a truck which has the panel for stepping up which u was doing good with then I decided to try it solo and went to the store got out ok but when I went to get back in some twisting and bending to far with the sterringwheel in the way gave me the worse pain I have had so I panicked drove home in tears where my hubby helped me out of the truck which I will probably my never get in again and I was able to walk in the house and take pain pills and Ice my hip . People I have talked including on call dr made it sound like if I had dislocated my hip j would not be able to walk so probably a mistake pulled a muscle or something and that it would take awhile . It even hurts to lift that leg even to lay in bed when i try to lift my leg it hurts even in groin area any suggestions please?

    Dear senora

    Sorry to hear that.

I would suggest go to the doctor and have an xray of your new hip joint so that You will have proper idea what is going on inside.

Usually dislocation wont happeb easily may be it just muscular pain.

Try sone painkillers suggested by your doctor and dont do any practical exercise until you visit your doctor

    Best Regards

If you would have dislocated your hip you would not have been able to move mine was dislocated 3 times and your flat down on the ground and when the ambulance comes they have to lift you up and put you on the stretcher you cannot move at all so yours might have just pulled out or strained a little bit and you're in extreme pain when it's dislocated your leg is loose and you cannot move I went to the emergency room and they had to give me 4 shots of morphine each time

Thank you Amy I'm sorry you had to go through so much pain Hun. This has been an ordeal and didn't need to be set back. It even hurts again to lift my leg when in the chair or stepping up better than dislocating my daughter's wedding is less than two months away didn't need set back 😊

    hi senora

    I am so sorry.

something similar happened to me when I was 6 weeks post-op from 2ndTHR.

. .came back from follow up appointment, got out of the car ,in which I was a passenger. .. forgot to swing legs out first ...

good Lord, I thought I dislocated my hip ...like you I couldn't stand on the leg. ..

The only thing that you can do is to take it easy the coming days. ..don't force anything. ..you might want to take pain medication. ..

I did in the morning. ..almost like starting over. ..so sorry ...but I am pretty sure that you will be fine in a week. ...

    big warm hug, renee ❤

Thank you Renee it really scared me could not believe the pain . I feel like I am one step forward three steps back. I am still walking okay but the getting in and out of the car and moving the surgical leg hurts like if did weeks ago so frustrating😥

I know -- I had to use my hands again to lift up leg --- it is okay .. just help your leg into the car - take your time -- I got so upset with myself at first .. doing things too fast, not thinking - so in a way it was a great albeit painful reminder that I had to slow down ...

    Hi Senora,

I am so sorry to hear that you went through this and endured so much pain. If your physician is not worried then I would order you up a few days aof very gentle activity and lots of rest until you feel confident again.

And if it feels like muscular pain - try some heat to relax the the tissues and of course ice for any swelling.

    Best wishes.

I think driving after 2 weeks on your own is far too soon, here in uk you are not allowed to drive until the Dr says it is safe to do so, you have to be able to do a emergency stop, and insurance companies would void your insurance claim if you had a accident. Get a x ray done to be on safe side
