Hi Carol,  I had THR of right hip 6 weeks ago.  Mine is metal, I was not given a choice or would likely opted for ceramic.  Anyway it is what it is.  Tomorrow is my 6 week follow up apt so will see what saw bones, (literally) has to say about my progress and when he expects to do the THR or left hip.  Best of luck to you and hope you have a speedy recovery with no complications.

    Hi Carol.

Wishing you well & a good steady recovery. I am due to have my right THR in 7 weeks. I have joined this group because it is so informative, supportive & at times Light hearted. Ask your surgeon about the type of hip you're having. he may come round to the ward b4 you go down to theatre.

Mine is going to be non cemented metal with ceramic cup...

I like the idea of a diary. Might help just to record any changes, my memory not brill & if physio's don't visit regularly then it will help.

I look forward to hearing from you on the 'Other side' as a 'hippie'.

    All the best

    Westie 😊

Morning Carol, Try not to worry to much, its all over before you know it, and you will be up and walking the next day, yes a little bit sore and the mucles are very stiff, but the pain has gone. I was going to have spinal nerve block, but it did'nt seem to be working, so the popped me off too sleep, woke up feeling fine asking for a cup of tea, Look forward to hearing from you next week.

    God bless
