Sorry it's  a late reply, thanks for your posts, I agree that it isn't worth getting upset about the stigma of depression. I find that regulating my breathing can help when I feel upset and negative, rather than wasting energy x

I haven't seen your other posts so don't know what that cpnversation was about.  Oh I do hate it when people talk about the stigma of depression.  It is an illness like diabetis or heart problems.  Just because it is a part of the body called the brain, does not mean we live with a "stigma"  We should ignore people who have not had depression and do not always understand that it is an illness like any other.

I agree the breathing excecises do help.  Long slow brreathing in, hold, and lone breathe out through mouth.  A few times, and the body does calm down.  I have lived with this "stigma" for over 20 years, and have never ever hidden the fact I suffer from depression.

I fell out with a friend last week because she was telling me to watch the secret & get over my depression with positive self talk basically. I pointed out that i'd been doing that since July when I felt it hit me full on but sometimes you have to admit that you need meds to get over a chemical imbalance. I hate it when people think less of you when depression hits. I've lost so many friends in my life from having this condition & it's about time people were educated on it. I think they should talk about it in schools.
