TKR

Hi. 5 weeks after total knee replacement, good/bad days. Noticing pain in right hip like sciatica, started to sleep ok 4th week, but now back to not sleeping. Muscle aches in my back, I also suffer from fibromyalgia, so not sure if this is flaring up. Pain from knee to foot, so on bad days, painful to walk. Only on Ibruofen, occasionally in the night. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms?

It's 8 weeks since TKR. I don't sleep through the night and wake up with aches and pains all over - hips, lower back and feet. Ok through the day though dosed up with pain killers and tend to fall asleep! I think we just have to be patient and let the healing process take its time.

Hi Michelle, I'm so sorry to hear about your pain. It seems sciatica does happen as Chico Marx has commented on.

If you're not sure if your symptoms are related to your fibromyalgia you should perhaps visit the GP. Either way you sound like you need stronger pain relief or just better pain control. I hope it eases enough for you to start your rehab properly. I am just heading towards 8 weeks & you think you should be out of pain by now. Nobody told your body though did they!!

I am learning from the guys on here is that there is no normal, rest, ice etc, pain can arrive from out of nowhere & keep a damn good sense of humour!

All the best to you, I'm sending a big hug 🤗

Hi Marilyn, thanks for your comments and the hug. Pain isn't that bad, that I want to go back on painkillers.. I'll take each day as it comes... true no one tells your body... so I've sat it down and had a chat 😃..onwards and upwards 😃😃😃😃

Hi Michelle, I love your reply...I tried to have a word with my body... it sent me to sleep (on the sofa, why can't it happen when I go to bed).

As you rightly say onwards & upwards. We'll show 'em!!

It could be sciatica see your doc for X-ray and treatment. It's miserable sleep on your back with legs up. Most important to see a back/spine specialist refered by GP.

    Hopexxx😀
