TKR

For the last 2 nights I have woken up and have not been able to move my leg as my knee is locked. It is very very painful to get my leg move.

Once I get it moving it is painful for quite a long time, I have to take strong pain relief to get back to sleep, as the pain is so bad . Has one else had this please

Welcome to the 2am club you qualify as a member from day one after operation so my consultant said That's when meds are wearing off and new ones haven't kicked in and the nerves they cut in the operation wake up and complain My membership lapsed at 4 months post TKR 🎉 But I'm about to rejoin 13th December another TKR on the other leg. I must be mad no cos I'm so much better after TKR. So hang in there. I find icing gives so much relief and a few stretches in bed and a thump to hubby for snoring and waking me up in the first place 👹👹👹👹

I find at night I get nerve pain usually on the the outer part of my knee radiating down to my calf and sometimes my thigh. The physio says it's the sciatic nerve which is sometimes aggravated during surgery. She told me to do an exercise which 'flosses' the nerve giving relief quite instantly. The exercise is to lay on your back bring your knee up so its bent 90 degrees and the pump the foot up and down as fast as you can. It works for me X
