I'm getting myself an exercise bike on Saturday. Will this be good for properly strengthening my leg? I really need to get back to work

A bike is great to gradually get your leg straight as you raise the seat to increase your ROM. "Strengthening" the surrounding musculature takes a lot more than biking, IMO. There may be some people out there who will disagree but, for me, you'll need more than biking and/or walking. At home, a good set of fitness bands would be great; a real gym would be better. The test is to put your bad leg on a step and go to the next step without using a railing or "bouncing" up to that next one. This requires pure quad/glute/core strength. This is the exercise program my daughter put together...total pro...

Bike is also great for warm-up and cool-down but I think you'll find that you'll need weight resistance to build back those muscles...

OK, thanks Chico. I have started walking up the stairs. Started at one and I've built up to 8 now but still using the rail. I don't think I'd be able to do this yet without holding on

Stairs are the final obstacle in a TKR recovery...

Takes a lot of strength, especially quads, that is built up over months of work. It will come in time.
