I had a tkr may 31. bad swelling for two weeks after. near missed a physical therapy session and did everything . it was like ground hog day. I started every morning back where I started the day before. at 6weeks was 89 -5. 10 weeks 92 and 5. at 12 weeks I had procedure to break scar tissue under anesthesia. that afternoon at pt was 113 and 0. week later was 95 and 5. stopped everything and now about 105 and 2, having bad pain behind the knee. and now I am having same pain behind good knee. surgeon stated recently the only thing he could do is open it up and remove scar tissue and maybe put some smaller parts in. not ready for that. any idea of how to relive pain in the back of the knee and any non surgical idea on scar tissue.  I was black and blue from my butt to my toes. was told surgeon was to rough, but dont know

Wow! I am in the exact same boat as you. The pain behind the knee is terrible and prevents me from doing my daily excercises. My physical therapist is baffled. I called my doctor but haven't heard back yet. I have an appointment on the 27th but don't know if I want to wait that long. Please let me know if you get any suggestions (besides surgery)on how to deal with this pain and I'll do the same.

I had my knee replacement done on the same day as you, and have the same issues as you. Recently had a MUA and removal of scar tissue, only to be disappointed in the outcome. 3 physical therapists have tried to manually push me past 100 degrees only to have the same outcome and state it is too tight. And to add I am in extreme pain when they are trying to do this. I see my doctor on Monday and plan on discussing the next option, which i would assume would be smaller parts. Being only 44, I need my ROM.

You can rent a cpm machine. I think I'm going to do that. I had total knee replacement 10 weeks ago and just had manipulation done because my knee wouldn't bend last week. They had me on the cpm for two hours at the hospital after the manipulation and how I wished I could have taken it home. My surgeon doesn't believe in them either but I had a less evasive surgery on the same knee done over 10 years ago and had a cpm machine at home for several weeks. I'm going to ask my doctor for a script so I can rent one asap.

It's a continual motion machine that you strap into and it moves you leg to keep you knee bending. You keep adjusting th bend until you get and keep the flexion you need

We have a very similar story. When I went for my follow up after the replacement, the guy that had his the hours before me walked in like nothing happened and I was over sweating bullets wondering when I could take my next pain pill. I would say that if you seek another opinion, which I am also looking into, do not go to someone your doctor's suggests.

No. I will have my primary send me somewhere. He was the one thatbsaid enough ground hog day.. made.me stop. All excersises. Put me on week dose of steroids to get swelling down and pensaid pain gel to help with pain. That is how i got 105 and 2 and can work now. The pa for.surgeon just kept doing the same thing and would say we will see how it is in 4 weeks. Terrible

Just left my doctors office to go through the same routine. Keep stretching and doing your PT. So we had a lengthy discussion from there, and I left there heading to another revision doctor. I need to have the top insert and spacer replaced. Now all this gets to roll into next year and will be more time off of work. I am not happy at all.

wow; I can't even imagine letting them cut it open again. when they talked about replacing parts the fear was if they put in to small of parts it can lock up and loosen the knee.
