there are lots of rescues about if you dont want a puppy.
its good you can identify that being on your own makes you feel down, so now I guess its looking at how to solve it. Going to the gym? Joining some sort of class? Getting a hobby? Or a dog? Join online groups?
sorry your feeling so down.xx

I agree, a dog would be very helpful. I even asked my son if having his own dog would help. I love animals, though I'm not a dog person. I've always had cats and have 2 at the moment, but am happy to get him a dog so he can have a responsibility, go out walking etc and know they'd be best friends. But he says no it wouldn't be fair on our cats. I'd buy him an elephant if he wanted one and it helped his recovery :-)

You should seriously look into owls. Is there anywhere relatively near that has birds you could go visit?
Slanted text ..... I suspect you've hit the italic button somewhere ..... either that or your text has been drinking

It does sound lonely up here, im sure its idyllic when youre feeling ok but depression itself makes you feel alone (even with people around as you dont want to burden them or feel guilty that you're not the life n soul) so your situation is hugely magnified :-(
This forum helps me lots too. Maybe like kate said you could get involved in local groups (conservation, walking, maybe even darts or something?). There maybe some volunteer work you could get involved with (depending on your health). And there are lots of online chat rooms (that arent the dogy kind!) Or online gaming (chess even?) where you can interact if not directly chat.
Its worth a try. Hope that dark clouds blows away soon
Take care
