I wonder if i drop 1/2 pill every two weeks if that'd be better than trying to drop one a week.  I have to work, no sick leave at my job.  Whatcha think?  (i just want this overwith)  Tempted to go cold turkey over a weekend.

Definitely, if you need to work take it as slow as you can. Think of this as a long term project, there is no rush and doing it slowly will help you adjust to the increased pain levels easier.

I was just like you - i wanted to quit in one go, but all advice said it's just too hard unless you have an Opiate substitute (Methadone/Subutex) or Clonidine/Lofexidine to take away withdrawal symptoms. Without these options it's too dangerous/hard to go cold turkey. You can't do cold turkey on a weekend as you'll feel like crap for at least 2 weeks, no way you can work in that state.

I see my prescribing doctor today.  Going to ask if she will allow me to wean off slower.  Going to ask for enough to reduce by 1/2 pill every two weeks.  Cross your fingers she agrees and that it works for me.  Thank you for helping me

doctor agreed to allow me to lower by 25 mg every other friday.  Hoping the worst will be over before i got back to work each monday.  I've been feeling fine for a few days...so of course it's almost time to lower the dose.  (this friday)  Hoping I will always have a few "normal" days in between.  I plan to wean by 25 mg each time...how long should i stay on 25 mg per day before i quit all together?  Will I get sick after i've been on that low dose?

Great that you have your Doctor's support. Withdrawal affects everyone differently, for me with MST it took 3 weeks to recover from each reduction, if you can do 2 weeks that's brilliant - like you say, you need a few days feeling normal before the next drop, or you'll drive yourself crazy. I found that reducing is not a linear thing, it got more difficult as my regular dose reduced i.e. dropping 20mg/day was easy when I was 100mg/day but dropping 10mg/day from 40mg/day I found much more difficult - you may need to make the drops smaller as you progress. I wouldn't bother loitering too long on 25mg as you will be too excited about getting clean by then, just give yourself the normal 2-3 weeks and see how you feel.

That's a proper double whammy, just what you don't need ... or is it a good excuse to take a few days off yourself?

Good work holding out, keep it going! I hope you manage to have a good Thanksgiving, tricky when you are in withdrawl though

ok withdrawal is gone. just hot flash now and then. original back pain came back today BAD! laying on heat pad knowing this should be temporary. been taking 4 ml liquid methadone since last Friday. finally slept last night. wanting to start weaning from methadone. is it too soon?

Fantastic news! I would imagine you need to be three weeks clean before Methadone reduction but worth asking the Doctor to see what they reckon.

Your pain levels will be on the high side for a while - it takes the body a while to rebuild its natural pain management after Opiate use. They say anywhere from a few weeks to years, or never! I've felt a gradual recovery over the last 6 months.

ok, 3.5 mil am and pm.  lowering to 3.0 am and pm on wednesday.  Having hot sweats and some anxiety...taking no more than 1/ tab clonazepam per day as needed for anxiety.  Should i worry about taking it that way?  I don't take it every day.  But have been since i lowered to 3.5 methadone.

I have a Diazepam stash I use infrequently for back pain/anxiety. I take 1 tablet every week or two at the moment for pain days, used to be daily for a few weeks during withdrawal. They are seriously effective and seriously addictive, I remain over cautious just in case.
