If you and your partner both have herpes, will having sex provoke outbreaks? I am under the impression that if you both have the same type you cannot and outbreaks depend on your immune system(again as long as you both have the same type) is this true??

    your right... it will depend on your immune system or stress levels, but it can cause an outbreak regardless of having sex or not; however stress is reduced by having sex; and herpes is not considered a big problem anymore; its very common.

    I had no idea there was different types of herpes

      type 1 causes both oral and genital mainly oral this is the culpret of cold sores

      type 2- is normally genital

      chicken pox is another strain of herpes

      so is shingles
