Hello, I am a overall healthy 28 year old male weighting about 140 pounds. A little bit over a year ago i made the mistake to do the "death nut challenge" which involves eating some nuts that are very hot, the hottest being 14 million Scoville units. It resulted in giving me the worst heart burn and burning sensation in my stomach i have ever experienced, at that time i had no clue that stomach acid can cause any damage and i tried to ride it out. I guzzled down Tums for about 4 days with no avail so i decided to go to a gastroenterologist which ended up doing an endoscopy on me and found 3 ulcers on my esophagus, 1 in my upper stomach, and a minor hiatal hernia. He ended up giving me some medicine, i forgot what it was. Definitely Pantoprazole and some other things which quickly healed me up. I ended up doing a 2nd gastroscopy a couple months later because i was paranoid that i had ulcers, but everything came out clear. My stomach was okay and they took me off acid medications, the doctor told me to watch my diet.
Prior to this incident i ate nothing but fast food and ate really unhealthy, yes i did say overall healthy male in the beginning because i had my blood test done beginning of the year and all results came out perfect apart from a small vit D deficiency ( thank you genes ). I was feeling good so i went back to my old eating habits of fast food, and spicy foods. Around February i started to experience a little bit of burning in my stomach again, so i went to the doctor and he put me on Pantoprazole and Famotadine. I was taking one Pantoprazole in the morning, and one Famotadine at night. It wasn't helping at all and i still felt that mild burning sensation in my stomach, it never really travelled up to my esophagus and i don't think i experienced much heartburn. I was like screw it, sooner or later it will start working and i just kept ignoring it, and stupidly enough kept eating really bad. Changing my diet required too much discipline which i didn't have, and also i travel a lot for my job so fast food was the easiest way to fulfill my hunger and i would say addiction. I kept ignoring the sensations until it got worse.
On April 27th i went under anesthesia for the 3rd in my life (space of 15 months, hopefully i don't have brain damage) to get septoplasty. I couldn't really breath through my left nostril and my insurance fully covered so i was like might as well as get it. The doctor put me on Antibiotics, and Percocet. I also had these splints put in my nose that were really hard to deal with and i couldn't sleep at night so i started to self-medicate with Xanax to fall asleep. I guzzled down the Antibiotics with grill cheese sandwiches ( pretty much all i ate for the entire week i was recovering ) but the Percocet's i would usually take on an empty stomach (idiot). I ended up going back to work May 3rd, at this point the burning sensation was still tolerable, and i was ignoring it. May 5th i got the splints removed from my nose, and doc said my nose healed well. So then May 7th comes, the day where i finally pay the price for being a careless idiot. I get home from work, and as soon as i walk in my boss calls me and asks if i can go back in, i was tired and hell and didn't want to and said no but then he gave me an offer i couldn't say no to. I was tired and had a bit of a headache so i went to my medicine cabinet and decided to take 2 Excedrin's ( Acetaminophen, Aspirin, and caffeine) about an hour later i started coughing like crazy, i couldn't stop. It was a dry cough and i was trying to cough something out that wasn't there, and the burning pain increased by a lot. I started to worry, but i got through the day and got home. At this point i was taking xanax every night to fall asleep since the day after my surgery, so i was taking it for about 9-10 days now. I was planning to quit that friday but the pain was so bad i ended up taking a xanax to go to sleep. I got only about 4 hours of sleep and as soon as i woke up i felt that burning sensation, it was located about 2,5-3 inches above my belly button and could be pin pointed to one location. I didn't eat anything till about 3 pm, i didn't feel much hunger. I went to do my laundry and stopped at a deli nearby and ended up eating taco fries, i couldn't resist the temptation and my impulse. As soon as i ate the fries it got even worse. I quickly tried to change my diet and started making healthy smoothies. Nothing helped
Monday morning comes, i decide to take off and go to the doctor (been awake for over 30 hours at this point). I tell the whole story to the Doc and he's pretty much looking down on me, and wondering what the hell is wrong with me. I could tell by his expressions. He puts me on a lot of anti-acids. Pantoprazole with famotadine in the morning, Carafate in the evening, and then Pantoprazole with famotadine again in the evening, and also he wanted me to schedule a HIDA test ( which i won't be able to get an appointment for until like late June. I changed my diet as he said, i was eating healthy but the pain wouldn't go away. So May 14th i go and get a second opinion, i tried to find the best gastrologist in the area and he told me that my Esophagus is irritated and ended up changing my meds. He gave me omeprazole in the morning, and then famotadine before every meal.
May 16th im in full GERD diet mode. Oats in the morning, chicken and potatoes for lunch, and Chicken and quinoa/brown rice pasta with pesto for dinner. As of today im able to wake up without the burning sensation but as soon as i get up, or take a sip of water it comes back. I sleep on my left side and i have my pills near me, and as soon as i wake up i try not to move too much and just take my pills and take a few sips of water and just lay there on my side for 15 minutes before getting up. As im writing this the burning sensation is here with me, its in one location, and it doesn't move. 3 inches above my belly button, i just feel fire. The weird thing is that as i am eating i don't feel it much and it either comes back, after im done or it doesn't. Its very random. Two night ago after i ate the chicken and pesto at around 7 pm it fully went away and didn't come back until i woke up the next morning. Yesterday i ate too much chicken and pesto and it hit me full force but then i took a 40 mg famotadine and it went away until this morning. I woke up with a raw feeling in that spot and maybe some mild mild burning, i tried to stay still and take my pills but after i sipped the water it came back. I ate my oats, and as soon as i was done the burning came, maybe because of the tumeric and ginger i put in there for Inflammation, the first two days i feel like it helped but it was over night oats, and the last two days i made hot oats. I'm gonna remove the ginger, and tumeric tomorrow to see what happens. All that i put in my oats is coconut milk, ginger, tumeric, and a banana.
What do i do, can i heal this? I learned my lesson this time i really did. I just want a second chance, and everything to go back to normal. I will eat healthy for the rest of my life. Is this even GERD? It kind of makes no sense, it never travels my esophagus. Please help me

The burning sensation is caused because of gastritis. You have gastritis.
Gastritis takes a long time to fully heal.
Keep taking the meds as prescribed by your GI doc.
Keep avoiding spicy/ oily foods.
Take an antacid that has an anesthetic agent in it like Oxetacaine. It will significantly reduce the burning sensation.
Good luck.
