TRHP 12/26/2018 - Recovery!

Saw my surgeon today for my second post-op and got fantastic news - all restrictions are off! It’s not even three months since TRHP. March 26 would be a full 3 months. I no longer have to follow the 90 degree angle rule, I can cross my right leg, I can touch my toes, I can go back to yoga - “downward facing dog, child pose, chair pose, cat pose” and so on. I had been going to yoga at least 5 times a week and not being able to do yoga left a void that I continually reminded myself was temporary. I can now take my dogs hiking and I can ride my bike!

I never expected the surgery to be such a roller coaster, physically and emotionally. I have since discovered, especially from this group, that it is not unusual. I had a very different experience when having both knees replaced. I recall just trying to weight bear after this recent surgery, would bring tears to my eyes and the other day, through various walks, I managed 4-1/2 miles.

“Each of us has a “soft spot”: the place in our experience where we feel vulnerable and tender. This soft spot is inherent in appreciation and love, and it is equally inherent in pain.”

So pleased you are happy now and positive about your future activities. Please continue to take care of your hip and not rush everything together. Well done and good luck for your continued recovery. 😁
