Trimellour fracture

Hi just a quick update 8 months post op and I am returning to hospital this week to get plates and screws removed. I am still very much in pain and unable to do much walking. The swelling still gets bad at the end of the day. I am dreading that I am going to be in as much pain as when it went in. Wish me luck x

    Hi Sharon

I just had my first anniversary of my tib and fib break. I'm scheduled for surgery on 14th September to have the 2 plates and 12 pins removed due to the constant pain and the swelling. I'm hoping that once they're out I will be pain free and have better range of movement and mobility. The doctors have said its a much easier recovery than the original op so hope they're right. Good luck with your surgery and wishing you a speedy recovery and a pain free future X

I will do. They've told me that the first few weeks after surgery the bones are very fragile without the metalwork and they've known of people Who have had other fractures which terrified me so I'll be extra careful but after 6 weeks the bones have refilled the holes made from the screws and Back to normal.

Do keep us updated. Many people question whether to have hardware removed and what someone's outcome is like. That's what I like so much about this forum. We get to learn from one another.

Best wishes and speedy recovery. May all the complaints leading to this next surgery be resolved!

    Good Luck Sharon....

My issues mainly started once I had had the screws and plates removed... now,  5 years on,  I am going for a fusion because of the mess ups with other surgeries...
