I've known I've had herpes for about 5 months. my bf of 8years gave it to me after being depressed and crying all day suffering break out after break out because of all the stress. i realized i have to at least try to take my life back i did some research and found these supplement help prevent outbreaks and lessen the time if you have one
lysine: an amino acid (building block of protein). People use it to make medicine. Lysine is used for preventing and treating cold sores (caused by the virus called herpes simplex labialis). It is taken by mouth or applied directly to the skin for this use.
vitamin c helps to boost your immune system to fight the virus and also red algae
also pineapple and tea tree oil has been known to decrease breakouts...
try to stay away from arginine filled food like peanuts and peanut butter, chocolate (this Is what helps the virus reproduce and large amounts cause flare ups)
for me this works much better than valtrex which makes me sick to my stomach. i got a little lazy about my regimen and got an outbreak. i started back with lysine (1000mg) and literally within 2hrs the swelling is down, and i have no pain.. i usually take 1 1000mg pill a day to prevent access if i get one i take 2/day. i also clean my sore multiple times a day and apply neosporin or vaseline to keep it moist and from crusting. im hoping this post will help someone who feels like their suffering in their own skin so that you can began to heal inside and out

Hello tryingtoluvme ...thank you for your positive reading...I contracted Hsv2 from a new relationship 5 weeks ago and like yourself have been in mental turmoil...Like your self I have started taking vit c and lysine 1000mg daily to boost immune system...do I need to take on daily basis or just when flare ups occur?...also I understand alcohol increases outbreaks and I was silly enough to drown my sorrows a few times which I think prolonged this first outbreak
(...I have also started using a canesten wash for below and apply coconut oil as post OB I'm very itchy and dry still...also guy I was seeing doesn't want to carry on so that's in a way made me feel stronger to battle it on my own!.I will also start buying copious amounts of pineapple and cut out chocolate!.....I do hope in time your name will change to Iluvme as we are still the same lovely people and it's a condition...I wish you well

thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my post.i noticed i get outbreaks alot so take 1000mg lysine everyday if i get an outbreak or get laxed as we sometimes do when you feel things "working" i take it twice a day i also take multi vitamins. i also drink lots of water. I've read and tried countless things and this is what works for me without making me sick like the valtrex. my obgyn Dr even noticed that my ob have become less (my ob was HORRIBLE, I'm talking monthly). and asked what I've been doing. of course she didn't "endorse" (legally she can't) but she simply said "I'm amazed and I'm glad you have a regimen that works for you" everyday is an emotional and physical battle and i have to remind myself of that to keep myself as healthy as I can be. again thank you for reading??

Hi tryingtoluvme. Let me start by saying I'm so sorry we are going through this. I just found out yesterday I was positive and I am really trying to deal with it. You seems like you are getting your under control. I pray in a few months will have the understanding and acceptance that you do. I am having my fist ob now and it is bad but not unbearable. I have not taken any rx meds just a few herbal meds. I have seen quite a few people using lysine. Is it really good. From your post you are doing a great job

thanks for reading and responding love. I've learned depending on your body, stress and diet. ob can vary person to person as in frequency, the length of time it lasts and severity. I'm a high stressor with a horrible diet (prior to diagnoses and research) so for me this meant lengthy itchy ob down there and in my mouth which is uncomfortable. i feel like right now it's more controlled and I'm more in control, i know what to look for and bam treating it on the spot with the higher dose. I'm single now since my ex cheated and i found that I'm a lot less stressed. just finding different coping mechanisms to get me thru the bad days

Hey luvme:
I'm sorry you're going though this. I found out 2weeks ago and lost my mind. My ob only lasted for about 5 days...today I have no bumps, sores, scars or scabs.
They gave me acyclovir, but I'm not taking them any more bc I lost my appetite and I'm too small to not eat lol and they made me sick to my stomach.
It's still hard for me to deal but I feel way better even though my bf dumped me ?? but I guess he didn't love me after all.
I can't wait to get comfortable in my own skin again bc I'm ok but not comfortable. I'm taking 1 day at a time.
Should I take these herbals and vitamins everyday for the rest of my life or when I feel a object coming to on. Bc the doc said I'm very healthy so I probably won't have another ob.
Thank you for the tips.

hi darling... I'm sorry you have to deal with this. is no easy way just take it one day at a time. i would say see if you get ob often before you get a regimen. pay close attention to your body if you get tingling, itching and burning start with the supplements. i personally only take 1 lysine a day (and I've actually started taking half pills of lysine;500mg instead of 1000 this week because of cramping) because my outbreaks are bad. some ppl don't take it until ob some take it as a preventative so it's at your discretion really... i had to get my diet and stress levels down before i could taper the lysine to avoid continuous ob. as stated in the original post i also take vit c drink lots of water and eat a big slice of pineapple everyday
avoid chocolate, peanut butter, and now i learned large amounts of alcohol. as far as your ex boyfriend you will find someone to accept and love you regardless. hugs and love
