Hi again!   One thing that puzzles me is that if it returns after [presumably unprotected] sex does this in any way imply that your partner is in some way connected with this?  In other words "reinfecting" you?   It is many many years since but I recall an incident with d/w #1 when she had some infection [and I am sorry I cannot recall what after all these years] but when she was treated with some kind of internal treatment  and I had to use a cream too.

It was - if I recall - treated quite quickly.

This may or may not be helpful ...

BV is a ph imbalance. There are many things that can affect your ph semen being one of them. The vag ph should be between 3-4.5 semens ph is i believe a 7 and can cause bv to occur.

Bv isn't an std 😕 and I have asked my doctor if he could be anything to do with it as in passing it back but it's not the case. I have also known woman to get their partners treated but yet again it always comes back.as Bridget has explained it's all to do with ph levels.

I wondered about the conceiving issue as it's meant to make you more prone to miscarriage, pre-term birth etc. I don't believe it is caught from a partner as I first got it after sex with a condom. Got rid of it once with the evil antibiotics but then it came back when I had sex again, couldn't bear to take the antibiotics again so have been struggling to shift it with natural remedies and vaginal antibiotics but nothing sorts the problem permanently. Either it comes back in a few days or it lowers the ph temporarily. Best thing I have found so far is ladybalance lactose pessaries but too much of them, ph goes really low and it's thrush instead.

Seems the solution is to re-populate with the right lactobacillus (good bacteria) but they don't seem to stick when used vaginally. Am trying femdophilus orally atm. So frustrating. Never had it before I gave birth but back then I used to always have thrush instead. Both are pretty horrible and do nothing for your sex life or self esteem!
