Please could anymone advise ot to expect with a TVT opertaion . My consultant has said that this is something that I need to look at and he does the operation with a local anaesthetic.

Any advice would be appreciated.  Pre and post op.  I had a anterior posterior repair with mesh 8 months ago.

Thank you.

It is being done more and more under a local anaesthetic and my neighbour had the procedure about 3 months ago. She was discharged the same day, driving after 2 weeks and playing golf after 4 weeks. She highly recommends it and her quality of life has improved 100%

She has a local and didn't feel a thing. If she felt a slight twinge the Urogynaecologist put in a bit more local anaesthetic. The doctors and nurses chatted to her during the procedure and there was the option to listen to music. An hour before the procedure the consultant inserted an anaesthetic suppository so that when it came to the actual surgery she didn't feel the local anaesthetic injection.

What is TVT then, as I thought that was the mesh thing which you've already had? I had mesh support for anterior prolapse 9mths ago, which I think was TOP?

I had the tvt as well as an A& P repair and a total hysterectomy so I was under.

But have to say I don't have any leakage when I cough laugh or sneeze. It great to be free of pads after yrs of wearing them. Can't really comment on pain etc afterwards due to other procedures at same time.
