    Hi Pauline,

I had the same thing happen to me after surgery.  Turns out that is was a side effect of the pain medicine I was taking.  As soon as I came off the narcotics, the symptoms went away.

Do you have any ice packs, like a pad that you can lay down on . Another think that has been soothing is magnesium, helps leg muscles relax and actually improves sleep I saw Magnesium at my acupuncturist office and asked about it .You can also get it in lotion form . Did you have restless leg syndrome before your surgery .

      Just found this information:

Twitches can occur in muscles for a variety of reasons - they can occur after vigorous exercise (which includes what the muscles go through after surgery), exposure to cold, certain medications (if you are taking any opioid pain meds, these commonly cause muscle twitching), a hyperactive thyroid gland (have this blood test done), and more rarely problems with the spinal cord, or nerve root compression (less likely as the twtiches are quite widepread).

Hi Pauline. II I find that when we go to sleep at night that there is sustained pressure on the surgical area . I think that leads to different symptoms. For me the area of the incision would start to hurt terribly . If I was asleep it would wake me up.I tried to give my body from pain medication at night but found that I had to take meds for pain for about 2 weeks . On my PT advise I payed on a ice pad which I put in a pillow case and changed the pressure by putting a pillow under my knees . The combination helped and later as healing proceeded pain went away. The leg twitching can be from overstimulation to your nerve complexes .

    Hi, Pauline,

I get muscle spasms at night. Terrible to sleep. The surgeon prescribed muscle relaxers. It does help.

Hello Pauline A few days after my surgery I was having like two second Charlie horses when I try to relax I understand it's pretty normal thank goodness they only lasted a couple of days everything is calm down now.

Doesn't sound exactly like your symptoms but I hope yours will come down as well
